    May 21st Ride Report

    14 miles, 1hr20min, 3 stops for photos.

Then I got home and was going to upload said photos when I was distracted by Lance.
He was giving a pep talk to Vince Vaughn in the movie "Dodgeball", it was so funny I deleted my entire memory card before uploading the pics.

You know what this means, don't you?

That's OK because I've already decided I have to ride everyday no matter how far , no matter how fast, just to get on the bike.

Approximately 8 or 10 miles, just riding around town doing errands. Nothing too exciting, just glad today was a nice day after the four straight days of yuck that we had here!

I rode 12 miles. I didn't feel too great. Averaged around 19 to 20 on the way out to the lake and 17-18 on the way back. For some reason, I seemed really strong a month or so ago, but I haven't improved at all. At the group rides back in April, I was doing all the pulling and passing on the climbs. But now I get dropped every week! Ack! I have a lot of work to do.

I didn't feel that strong today either, but can't figure out why. Must be the planetary alignments....

Going one way I passed two 8 year old boys walking along the side of the road. I noted that they were not like most boys their age in that they were not whacking and slashing at the woodland foliage with long sticks as they walked.
A few miles later on my way back I passed them in the other direction, only this time they were whacking and slashing at foliage with long sticks as they walked.

Got rid of an extremely annoying thunking in my right pedal by changing to another pedal this morning. Relieved that it was not something with my crank.

A decent enough day, given the general squirrelly~ness of the weather lately. Partly sunny, warm enough, windy.
Rode from home up to Victoria on "Vee", along the waterfront, dancing and dodging with tour buses, tourists utterly lost behind the wheel, pedestrians, horse-drawn carriages, rented scooters, and all the usual insanity of silly season. A mix of Galloping Goose rail-trail/city streets/Trans-Canada highway. Got home after logging about 60km, had a little energy left, swapped bikes, and trotted out another 20km on "Geri" just for the heck of it. Not too bad a day.

Just a standard commute, but I was finally able to do the morning ride (at 7 a.m.) with just shorts and jersey...no jacket.
14.2 miles in about 1 hour 7 minutes, combined.
I ran into a co-worker when I pulled out of the parking garage (well, not literally). I ride with her on Metro quite often and she lives not far from me. She's yet another one of these "That is so great you bike commute. I don't think I'd like riding with all the cars around here. I really should get my bike back in working order."
Ohhh....If I had a dime for everytime I heard that - or some variation on that!

I took my last vacation day today and thus was able to join the club for a morning ride. The route was fairly hilly and I did not feel as strong as I did a couple of days ago. In the end I averaged 15.92 mph for 27.96 miles we rode. I was quite surprised and quite happy. I'm thinking of getting up early (schools are closed here tomorrow for election day) and riding a long ride solo. It is back to work on Wednesday but we only have 5 more days to go before our summer vacation officially starts.

I did 23 hilly miles. Averaged 15.4...but this was a lot of urban areas.

... or maybe less work? Overtraining stymies improvements. Has your speed gone down - or has theirs just gone up faster? In which case you **have** improved; they've just improved more, which doesn't change your improvement.
I got in 36 miles in the middle of the moderate group on BigXtra, which I figured I'd ratther ride than the Aluminum Thing 'cause after 91 mileson it yesterday my butt wanted something different. It was the right choice 'cause Ihad to push a *little* (tho' mainly the group was horribly inconsistent - for two or three times for a little while I was working hard but the rest of the time... working a little).
I ordered a computer so I have *some* idea whether I"m going 11 or 15 on it I got passed by a guy on a hybrid going home and my ego wanted to say "but my bike is STILL heavier and I rode a hundred miles yesterday!" but I laughed at my ego and said "either catch up to him or shut up," and noticed I *was* gaining on him (figure he sprinted by and then couldn't keepup that pace) ... and backed off and cruised home. Besides, I'm pretty sure he was riding hard into the wind, went my me and then turned around right away to sprint by, and I had sped up like a mad woman because that's one of the "intervals" I do when riding alone (say "SPRINT! until that person has gone past") and I prob'ly activated *his* interval activator... "it's all good"

Only 8 miles. Tried my nemesis hill for the first time...it spanked me...literally! About halfway up, I was going so slow that I just tipped right over. I think I have a goose-egg on my rear end. I walked the rest of the way up the hill

Still a nice little ride though.

    LOL!!!!!

Isn't it funny how that same hill can be in so many places all at once?

I am eagerly anticipating the bruise...I bet it will be impressive by morning. Darn it, I can't really show it off at work...I'd get fired for sure!
