That's too bad about the rain. I hope the weather is better next year.

I am so disappointed you have no idea.
I left work early because one never knows if the Long Island Rail Road will pop up with delays. The whole day was beautiful, the day and night before was beautiful and now although cool is also beautiful. That few hour window of time for the ride was nasty with rain. I thought we would be able to dodge it just for that hour. I went to the starting point and some cyclists did show up, some in clothes, but most in cycling attire. 15 minutes before the ride that was when the rain came down at its hardest.
A couple of guys who are not club members would have ridden but like my fellow club members said, we didn't want anyone to get hurt. The roads were slick. One guy wanted to do it tonight as a rain date. I was trying to explain that it does not work that way. There is no rain dates for this. It is always on the third Wednesday of May at 7:00pm. That is the way it was originally set up by a cyclist in Texas. Then he said, but we could do our own. I had to ask one of my fellow club members to help me out explaining this. I also mentioned that last year some areas had tornados and could not ride and people in MA said in the afternoon that their ride was most likely cancelled due to weather. Thank you for TE and you ladies that posted I was able to explain sounding like I knew what I was talking about.
Very few people heard of this ride on Long Island and with that article in the paper cyclists come out of the wood work as I have been getting e-mails and even phone calls of what a wonderful thing this is. I know this could have been big had the weather cooporated.
Well, I have my 50 arm bands ready for next year. I just better put them in a place where I will remember them.
If you were able to ride, I hope your ride went well.
Silver...just gotta love that jersey. I know I love mine!!!!
