Back on the bike today after 3 weeks of PT!!

HI guys, Im back. OK I went 4 miles today on my townie in low gear and only 8 MPH. I usualy push high gear and 14 MPH and that is being a rider of only 3-4 months, hence massage therapy, not doign that now as PT is helping best.
I had Decompression at PT twice a week. I was doing back stretches and planks, also Lying on back feet on ball on rolling knees to chest. They do alot of stretching with me too. Plevic tilts held in place as I do small sit ups.
My back pain is nill! I have some muslce tightness in the back of my things from building the back of my body, but overall I feel great.
I also found out that my left hip flexor is hurting, the front of the thigh high u up, I noticed this after the back pain subsided. SO the are working on my thigh muslces and doign alot of hip flexor stretching along with siatic stretching.
Though I would give you guys an update. My bike missed me and me her, we went out together for a short light crusie!!

Glad you are back on the bike - 3 weeks is a looong time... glad the back pain is nil...

But tell me, what is PT? Special exercises I am guessing?

Physiotherapy. Physical therapy over here, so PT for short.

NO NO NO!!!! It stands for Physical Torturer. most commonly said phrase is "Let me help you" followed by painful stretches PT's inflict to your body.

In all honesty though they really do help.

    Luna,

Wow its wonderful that PT has gotten you back into shape. No more back pain and without pills. Isn't it wonderful to be able to move around without the chest tighening pain in your back. Remeber the exercises so you can do them on your own after PT is over.

Take care, and many more happy years of pain free back.

Luna, I am so happy that you are doing better.

My brother calls us "Physical Terrorists". he used to call me after every PT appointment he had (bad injury to a finger requiring very painful rehab) to b!tch and complain. I was a PT student at the time and somehow this made him feel better.

I take pride in my ability to cause people excessive amounts of pain that eventually leads to recovery. Call me a sadist, you're porbably right. In a former life, I'm sure I ran a torture chamber.

Yes I did complain a few times during the stretching they do. Im like "are you sure what your doing is right and my hip is not going to pop out of its socket?" After the traction table I thought they hurt me more as I was unable to stand and then they put me on ice and in 15 minutes I was walking out and sitting in my car pain free! I do the exercises they taught me at home. I stretch and core build.
The Pt guys are alot of fun(not to metion cute too and tell me I will be so fit when im done with PT.
One PT found my hips to be a little crooked when I first started, my chiro never mentioned that. He fixed them with a few stretches!
Yes they do contort me and I ahve called them sadists!
But I love them! I am on no pain meds, I did like 3 days of celebrex.
Next week is the dentist..UGH!! now that is the torture chamber for sure!!!

    Sore again

Well after that short ride in low gear last saturday, By monday I was hirting in my back, some muscle tightness, some nerve pain down the leg and my left thigh high up. I am beginning to think its my thigh that is causing all this pain. I never ever had a problem riding horses for years with my things or my back. Now i know I have a disc bulge, I feel its been there but has not aggrivated me much unitl i started biking and using the hip flexors and therfore putting more strain on my back that made me get an MRI to see i have a bulging disc. OK well good diagnosis. It does NOT HUT when i sit anymore from the PT im doing. But my hip flexore hurts, or should I say my left upper thing, its weak as Heck!!
Im getting really frustrated here. I joined this forum to talk about bike riding and all aspects of that, not to come here and complain of my pain.
Im sorry guys, i guess im still looking for some support.
Im trying to get better. I dont like walking or jogging and I need to stay active. Has anyone else experienced hip flexor pain?
MY pt guys are trying to figure what is wrong too.

    Stretch and strengthen hip flexors?

    Get a different PT?

It gets complicated in that area, I've been going to pt for ages and still can't walk comfortably for any distance. I can ride a bike, though!
