Sella SMP TRK mens or womans?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I'm getting ready to order a Sella SMP TRK to try as I need something a bit better on the "girly bits". I'm currently riding a Terry Butterfly and the size of that appears to be pretty good for me. I don't want to order one of the $200+ versions of the Sella SMP until I have given one of the cheaper TRK models a try. I've read everythng on the boards regarding these saddles, but since there are so many Sella SMP models, it's difficult in some of the posts to figure out exactly what model the poster is referring too. I want to order one of the TRK models to try, but am unsure as to wether or not I should order the mens version, or the ladies, since the Terry Butterfly seems to be pretty good as far as size, just not great on the more tender front areas. Any suggestions as to wether or not I should order the mens or womens as my trial saddle?

    Hi Scubamom,
I tried both lower end versions (men and women's) they go for about $70. They only difference between the two of them is the width of the saddle. Measure your current saddle and order one which comes closer to the size of your Butterfly. Just make sure that your butterfly fits your sitbones, so I would remeasure them too and make sure that you have one cm extra on each side on your new Selle SMP. These saddles are great for pain elimination in the front, unfortunatelly I had to get rid of them because they chaffed me in my leg crease. Hope they work out for you.

    Good luck

    Yep...what FreshNewbie said.

I own the women's version and really like it (best saddle yet). That said, I chose it based on the measurements of the sit bones. My butterfly was too narrow for me.

While I love the width and the generous cutout, like FreshNewbie, the shape of the outside of the front of the saddle is wide (I want it shaped more like a ping pong paddle, I think). However, I'm willing to tolerate that for the width and cutout.

Also, note that the lady version only comes in the super padded version. It is a cushy saddle (although not to the level of comfort-bike cushy, but a bit cushier than I'd like). The narrower models come in firmer versions.

I have that saddle in the men's version... It is probably one of the most comfortable saddles I've been on for shorter rides... I don't have enough padding on my tush for longer rides on it...

I bought the men's version but sold it because of the chaffing on my thighs. I now have the terry butterfly and I like it fairly well. I bought the Selle on ebay for abouth $60.
