Yesterday I saw a guy on a bike with a kid on a bike. the kid's bike was a two wheeler, as was dad's. Dad had the kid attached to him by a CABLE that was at least 10 feet long. he was going down the Burke Gilman trail.

That reminds me.
I was working for a hospital when I bought my first "real" bike. I had a huffy that I sold to a cardiology resident. He took for a ride with his German Sheperd's Leash tied to the handlebarsBroken Colloarbone.
Hopefully, your cardiologist isn't named Naresh![]()
I actually tried that with my dog for about 100 feet. he was only a 35 lb dog, but it was enough to pull my bike out from under me.
Some guy friends of ours invited a woman friend for a 35 mi road ride with us, it was very hilly.
She showed up in running shorts and thongs. She also brought her 2 young boys who were riding BMX style bikes. They didn't have helmets because she "forgot to put them in her car and since they were running late she didn't want to go back for them".
When we reached the first set of hills which were rollers, she tied a rope to the head tube of the boys bikes and attached it to the seat post of her bike(she had one boy and our male friend had the other boy). They pulled the 2 boys up the hill. Then they kept the boys tied to their bikes on the downhill.
Our friend said that was the most dangerous thing he had ever done and refused to pull up any more hills.
We were close to a bike trail so she and her 2 boys rode to the trail and left.
This is a woman who is a nurse and who, when she was pregnant kept monitoring her heart rate on a hiking trip for fear she would get it to high and damage the fetus!
That day, I lost all respect I had for that woman as a mother.
oh my god that is AWFUL!!!
When my friends who are casual bikers suggest they will ride with me for fun sometime, I welcome that but I do specify to them that I will only ride with people who wear helmets. I hope in some way it suggests to them that helmets are important.

I was on my daily commute, cutting through the university, when I saw a unicyclist walking his German Shepard. All I could think was all that dog needed to do was bolt and down he would go...and he wasn't wearing a helmet
