    Question Training

    I am an avid mountain biker and right now just do a lot of local rides and weekend trips. I split my time between LA and Mammoth with a permanent move to Mammoth in the near future. I would like to get more serious and possibly start competing. Where do I start? I probably need to start a training program. Does anyone have some good advice on how to train and get my foot in the door so-to-speak.

    depends...

    that depends on the type of races you plan on doing? there is a great training guide for 24 hour mtb relays on mens health web page.

    i am starting to do some weekly races in ottawa too. i think it is important to balance road rides and trail rides as well as spend time practicing technique. don't forget to do some cross training and strength training as well (strong abs and back are important to riding).
