A cycling jacket for my husband?

My hubby's b-day is coming up and he keeps saying he wants a cycling jacket. Well the problem is he is a huge sweater. A wind breaker would be bad. But he wants something to keep the cold out. So is there a jacket that is breathable but will keep him warm. A thick jersey maybe?

    Soft shells rule!

I really love my soft shell jacket. I have one from REI (house brand) but other manufacturers make them too. Mine is suprisingly waterproof (I've been out in downpours and not gotten wet except for my forearms where there is permeable material that wraps around the front of the sleeve) very breathable and a nicely warm when used as a top layer. I would usually be a sweaty mess if I were to wear a regular waterproof rain jacket, but the soft shell keeps me very comfy - I highly recommend them.

I have a Gore (Passion, I think) cycling jacket and it's really good at breathing and surprisingly good at keeping the rain at bay. The color is really visible, too. A good buy... (And I can zip off the sleeves...)

My husband has a Gore jacket that he wears in cold weather. I bought it for him for xmas a few years ago, so I'm having trouble finding the exact one. But here's one at Performance that looks really similar. In really cold weather (teens, 20s), all he needs to wear under it is an Under Armour shirt b/c the jacket is really warm.

I have the Gore Passion Jacket that I really like, it's thin but easy to layer under it and is a great windstopper. I also have the Sugoi Invertor jacket that I got for xmas this year. It's thicker than the Passion jacket and if it's cold, but not windy, I wear it for riding. On a windy day, I just layer underneath my Passion jacket. I'm not sure if there's a men's equivalent of the Sugoi, but you can look. It is a great jacket.

I have this jacket (it's unisex) and I love it! It keeps me warm when I need to be, yet I've worn it along with a base layer and long sleeve jersey on a day with temps in the low-mid 60's and never felt overheated.
