    Random thoughts on the trail

    Random thoughts while running outside

    Sheesh it's cold.

Didn't they say you shouldn't stretch a cold muscle?
Gotta go to yoga. I'll be all contracted if I never go.
Then I'll be all torn again like last time.

I would like to live in this house.

    My HR is too high.

    Who cares.

Am I going faster than a year ago yet?

Thank gods "the hill" is closed off for logging.

What's for lunch in the cafeteria?*

How many calories will I burn?

    Hey kittykitty...

    That hill is suddenly easy...

Downhill-hope this won't blow my knees eventually

    Does this count as Fartlek?

    Eeek mud

I wish there were more trails around**

Thank gods it's cold. How am I going to survive running when it's hot?

Damn dogs. The owner should be shot.***

*I'll only have a sandwich afterwards
    **I hate running laps
*** sorry to all conscientious owners. I actually told off a lady for letting her darling POOP ON A CHILDRENS PLAYGROUND! And she refused to pick up! For god's sake we have bags hung up by special trashcans so they can FEKKING CLEAN UP! There should be a fine for littering&dog poop like in California - 1000 bucks.

Here's some from my morning ride:

Please make the snow/ice storm stay south!!

It's cold and the ground wind is awful, but my hands & feet are toasty (thanks to wool socks/glove liners, amfib lobster gloves, Sidi winter shoes, & chemical toe warmers).

Should have oiled the chain on this bike.

Please don't let the snow/ice storm materialize...

Another month, and it should be warmer.

I hope the dogs aren't tearing up the house right now....

No one but me out here--too bad the wind & my "oil me please" chain are making it hard to hammer.

Please please no snow/ice -- I don't want to do Spinervals on my trainer!

    Here goes another snot rocket!

    What a beautiful day.

I hate this hill and why does it always have to be at the beginning of my run.

Well, that's the price you pay for living on a hill.

Man my calves are tight, I hate my calves. When is this hill going to end.

Hill's over yeah. Oooooooooo, look at the pretty mountain.

Why is my heartrate so low when it feels like I'm working way harder.

    Oh, there's a woodpecker.

Oooooo, look at the pretty mountain.

If I stretch this out a little longer will I still be able to have a shower before work.

You wouldn't be having this conversation with self if you hadn't spent so much time on TE this morning.

Lets do the math, damn its hard to do mental math while running. I wonder if that has to do with oxygen deprivation.

Back up the hill, how is it possible that my run starts and ends with an uphill, oh yeah - I live on the side of one that's why.

    Ooooooooo look at the river.

    Ooooooo look at the mountain.

    and so on.

    Talking

ahhh here are mine- both the am version and the pm version...

AM - in the pool for an hour:

ahhh water feels warm this morning.
cool... steam coming off the water
ok, 20 down 60 more to go
you know you should do 90 or 100
just get to 80 and see how you feel
watch that form, relax, your tensing up and sinking like a rock
my shoulders are killing me. I need to do more upper body work
my arms are gonna rock with all this swimming
I need to call that girl at camelack coaching. this is taking to long
Oh it's going to be embarrasing when I show her how I swim
legs are drifting apart pull the thighs in, concentrate. wide arms, complete that pull
My pull sucks. I drift off at the end
I need to work on balance
    79 80. Ok I think I can go for 10 more.
And Debbie (coworker) thinks water aerobics are hard. I could kick her asz in the pool. Heck I could kick her asz in EVERYTHING.
Dang I wish I actually looked like the athlete I am.
    89/90 done... cool..

The pm version a very COLD WINDY hour in the saddle:

    Man it's windy out here.
Dang left my gloves in the house (run in to get them)
Here we go- Hey Roman (wave to neighbor)
Man I'm cruising up this hill. I must be getting back into cycling shape
Sheesh there is alot of broken glass on this road
cool made it through that stop sign without having to unclip
arrgh need to fix that thing (never reach hydration thing rattling)
is it going to fall off, it's rattling alot
    man it's getting windy
    those clouds don't look good
ok I should have worn my full finger glubs and beenie.
WHOA crosswinds. Am I riding sideways??
ahhh hitting the nice pavement. I love this section... smooooth rolling
rolling rolling rolling watch my bike a rolling rawhide. (chuckle at my silliness)
What the HECK was that?! (as I get slammed by a cross/head wind)
Ok I better get out of the aerobars
Ok is it possible to have a head wind AND crosswind at the same time
    good practice for kona.
    Pretend you are in kona
But kona is warm this is FRIGID
I'm not even half done and I'm FREEZING
    I can keep going
man I was going 16.8 and now I can't even hold 14 in this wind
If I get a lottery slot would I be able to handle wind like this for 112 miles?
Yeah I'd be in kona. It would be different
It could be windy in April.
    Good practice just in case
You will be glad you pushed through this
ahhh the turnaround. Stop and turn on your blinkys
man the sunset is gonna be awesome today
I wish I had a camera. I could post a pic on TE
Ok I think I have a tailwind but I'm still only going 15.5 mph
    this isn't fair
    life isnt fair
I could be on that god foresaken trainer
Whoa CRAP this crosswind is scary. Am I going to get blown over. Man Kona must be scary. Should I stop peddling. Just try to balance. Pleeease wind.. STOP!!
Ohh kewl... It's gonna be a full moon tonight
Ohh I wish I had a camera, the moon over the lake with the palm tree's is cool.
Aunt helene would love to paint that
    the sky is awesome tonight
    Love these desert sunsets.
    Ahhh here we are.
    Good ride. Cold, but good
(comes through door) Hey Spence, your "momsicle" is back. MAN it's cold and windy out there!!
