    Downloading Pictures HELP

    To disable ads, please log-in.

    Ladies:

I want to download a pic of my new bike on this forum. When I go to click
'insert image'.....they want me to tap into some http:// web site.

    Huh?

All my pix are in my documents or picture files....

How do I convert them to the http format that this forum wants? I've never run into this before? I know there's an answer somewhere out there???

    Best,
    Maureen

    Maureen -
You can either reference a photo on another web site, or you can upload a small image. To upload a small image, look below the box where you are typing your message. Under Additional Options, there is a button that says Manage Attachments. You can use that to point to an image on your computer that is then uploaded to the site.

The problem is that images that are uploaded in this fashion are limited in size - so it's very possible that your photo is larger than is allowed there. Photos can be resized, but you will need a tool on your computer to do that.

    Maureen:

Photos I wish to load onto a forum I first load on another website - I use photobucket.com. Using photobucket is very easy. It's free. Just sign in and then you are prompted to browse YourPictures, load your photo and once it's listed on the site it will give you an IMG address. click the IMG address, it's copied, you then come back to TE hit the image (IMG) box and paste in the address. I have a problem when I do mine (so I am probably doing something wrong) - I get two [IMG] so I delete one before entering the post. These images can vary in size - it depends on how large they were before you loaded them on photobucket.

An easy and free little program for resizing your photos for posting on the internet can be downloaded from Irfanview:
    http://www.irfanview.com/

This is a handy program, highly recommended by Kim Kommando, so you can be pretty sure that it's safe and effective. On the other hand, you might already have a graphics or photo editing program on your computer, like Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, or Digital Image Pro (that's the Microsoft one). These are not as easy to use as the Irfanview product, but if you already have one, you might as well use it. Most of them have a "Save for Web" feature that walks you through the steps of resizing an image for posting on the internet.
