    ride with a new stallion!

Holy cow I had the ride of my life today.
    first some background info:

On Sunday October the 1st I am going to be in a race. The race is composed of 12 teams of 3. I was put on a team with 2 very strong men, one being my son. My husband is on a different team.
I am riding a tandem with one of the strongest riders in the state (Not my son)! He's done lots of long races, and a 1200 k..

So tonight I rode with this guy for the first time. We were maintaining 25 mph where DH & I usually are going 15! we raced up and down hills. It's a damn good thing that I couldn't see how fast we were going, because i would have panicked. It was thrilling, exciting, amazing.

Because it's a short ride (only 22 miles haha) i left my underwear on.. big big mistake!... at the halfway point, i was REALLY SORE (and these are my super nice seamless underwear!) so i took them off.

at the 22 mile mark i felt better than i did at 11.. commando.

My captain is very strong. He threw sweat like a racing horse.

the best part about this is that I was able to help him up the hills. most of the time his cadence was so high that i did all that i could just trying to keep up; but on the hills, I could really help.

Now off to bath and bed, I am tuckered out.

Wow you must have a high trust level. (And your husband must have a high trust level to send you off with a guy like that!) I know a couple who mountain bike on a tandem. Crazy downhill stuff. I prefer to ride solo, but that's because I have control issues...

Wow, Mimi's death-defying ride! Sounds thrilling--scary, but exhilarating. Good luck in the race!

I'm still trying to picture you taking off your underwear at 25 mph....

Hubby trusts this guy because he knows him pretty well. Hubby was RIGHT THERE, flirting with me and racing with us. (HE was pretty hot last night too!)

This fellow has an excellent record or I wouldn't have been on a bike with him. His torso is enough longer than DH's that i couldnt see over his back, so what could i do? freak out or just trust. I chose trust.

The race, btw is 10 miles of a forest service road near Mt Rainier.
There is a 12% grade for about 1/2 mile up and 1 mile down, plus an assortment of less difficult hills.
After last night, I know that we are in the contention to win this thing!

There is a bathroom at Seward Park (where we turned around last night)
that's where I took off the underwear! My butt is sore where they were rubbing!

Why are there teams of 3? Where is the 3rd person?

most of the teams are 3 single bikes. the teams have to stay within 10 bike lengths of each other.
Why three to a team? Because it was someone's goofy idea for a fun ride.
The last of the team is the time that will be counted.

If i was on a single bike, I would definitely be coming in last...

we will start 1 team every 2 minutes...
