Seattle: Planning in advance (for once!)

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Quick, take a picture! I'm planning a ride with ADVANCE NOTICE!!!!
(it may never happen again. )

Now that the STP is over, and with Danskin looming on the horizon, how 'bout we start planning that giant Seattle area TE ride?

I'm thinking sometime after Aug 20th, maybe on the Sammmamammish trail or the Burke Gilman or Lk Wash Blvd or something else that's kinda central and easy for everyone to get to. How about the wineries?

So, if y'all would like to post up some dates and some places you'd like to ride, we can get this show on the road! (or trail, or whatever)

(how about catching the Edmonds or Mukilteo ferry and riding on Kitsap or on Whidbey?)

Great idea. I have a couple of dates I need to check, and then I will post some dates. We could go to the wineries, or even Red Hook Brewery for lunch, or to Ballard. How many of you ride the Sammamish River Trail from Bothell to Redmond? If you haven't, it's a major treat---unlike the B/G, it's smooth, the river is beautiful, I always see eagles and herons, have seen otters, goldfinches. We could meet somewhere in north Seattle territory on the BG; ride to Marymoor Park; ride to the brewery or to St. Michele after Marymoor. Kitsap or Whidbey would take a little more knowledge-gathering for me.

So back soon with dates...thanks, KY, for getting this started.

    Yay - advance notice!

I am definitely interested. Unfortunately, August 20 is the best date I have until mid-Sept. Now that STP is over, my climbing buddies are bugging me to get out, but I'll try to carve out some time once a date is picked.

I'd really like to go, except I had a few questions -

    1) I'm not particularly fast. Scratch that, I'm not fast at all, and I'm not a hill-person. How fast do you guys think you'll be going? Probably more importantly, how far do you think this ride might be?

    2) What's a TE ride?

Fresh Sushi, TE is team estrogen!

and those rides are all fairly flat.
KnottedYet and I are not real fast riders. Maybe she'll remember what speed we went last time

Oops. Obviously not the brightest crayon in the box either.

Someone mentionned August 20th, that's would be my best date as well. Count me in!

I think she meant after the 20th -- she's doing the Danskin, which is on that day.

I might be able to come over and go, maybe with my mother in law (we are doing the Danskin together, too), if I'm available. I'll keep watching

I think Mimitabby and I went about 12 or 14 mph for the most part. A social TE ride can go whatever speed works for everyone, or if folks really want to go at different speeds we can break up into a couple groups at meet up at strategic locations. (Gateway park in woodinville, etc.)

I like salsa's idea of a ride Bothell to Redmond to the Brewery for lunch. (I've not ridden to the brewery, so Salsa is in charge of that route!! ) Red Hook ESB is my all time favorite beer. In fact, I'm drinking one right now!

Yup, Danskin triathlon is on Aug 20th. Colby and I will be rather busy that day....

Edit: more on the idea. We could meet in Bothell if folks wanted a longer route. We could meet folks who wanted a shorter route at Marymoor. Then all of us could ride together out toward the wineries/brewery. (I'm just a little fixated on the beer aspect). There is handy parking at both places, and both are easy to find from major roads.

Dates, you guys: The only dates when we are planning to do organized tandem rides and are therefore OUT are: 8/13, 9/17, and 10/7. Sundays tend to be better than Saturdays for me. And...9/2 and 9/9 are tentative dates for a dye study group I'm in (weavers). So. Any weekend dates but those are wide open right now.

September 3 and 16 are good for me. October 14th or 15th are each good, and are really the best in October, as my next "good" weekend is Oct 28 and 29 when the weather might be more iffy.

I don't think those dates conflict with Salsa's.

Chime in, folks! What dates work for you?

    Seattle ride planning

I just joined the forum and would love to join some local folks for a TE Seattle event. September 3 and 16 are my first available dates and they seem to match some others'. Right now it looks like October 15 and 22 would work, also.
