Hep, I need a fun game for a meeting

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Arg, I have to be in three straight days of meetings next week, including group dinners. My presentation is scheduled for 1 pm on the 2nd day. I hate being the speaker right after lunch.

I need a 5 min silly game. Most of the people in the room will be sales weasels, oops, sales people , their VPs, and sales admin/ops and contracting folk.

    Any suggestions?

Argh is right - being the speaker after lunch stinks!! Are you going to incorporate Engrish into your Power Point as I did under your advice for my NH presentation???

I don't know any games. Even though I have a kid, I'm not "fun" like that. Maybe they could play quarters?

Edit: Hep? Like hepcats? Or "Somebody hep me!" Tee hee. Glass houses. I'm in one....

At a recent conference I was at, the after-lunch speaker threw small candies (like Tootsie Rolls, small Hersheys, etc.) at people. Made us afraid to take a nap!!

A friend of mine had a great game she did at Ano Nuevo State park for kids to learn about elephant seals:

You make up cards in pairs (or if it is a big group, in threes and fours) that have words on them that sound like the barking of an elephant seal - like "bark", "bork", "burk", "hork", etc. until you have as many cards as people. Then mix up the cards and pass them out. Everyone goes to the edges of the room and the starts making his/her sound as they converge on the center. The idea is to find your seal family based on the sounds you and they are making.

You can imagine the mayhem with a room full of third graders! Although it's probably not the corporate-type game you had in mind, I am really loving the visual of sales reps and execs doing it!

Please, give it a try SK, and take video!
    Keep calm and carry on...

"Hep" as in "We did Shake 'n Bake, and I hepped!" Oh, you're too young.

We have played games in the past for miniatures (and I'm not talking figurines). I just can't remember any of the games. You suppose a wee bottle of Bombay aimed at the forehead would keep 'em awake?

I don't think this one is appropriate. Guess I'll have to keep searching.

I played a baby shower game that could be modified to be appropriate for your work situation. Everybody is given two slips of paper, on one they write a problem and on the second they write a solution. The problem slips are jumbled up and passed back out randomly, the same is then done with the solution slips. They are then read out loud by the new recipients. I can't remember how they decide if anybody "won" the game, or if it the whole point was just to read silly mismatches and giggle with the effect of mimosas.

    Good Engrish of the day!

And I do remember that Shake n Bake one. It's in some vestigal memory cell somewhere.

Well, as a professional corporate trainer, I encorporate a lot of activities into my presentations.

What TYPE of activity are you looking for?

One that gets them to talk to other people?

One that gets them out of their seats?

One that gets them to mingle?

Do you want an activity that uses some of your presentation material in it?

If you can give me an idea of what type of activity you are looking for, I can give some suggestions.

Also, it's kind of hard to type out all the details... so if you want to PM me and get my number or have me call you, I can do that. I can help you come up with something really creative that might include something from your presentation.

    Wow! Thanks.

Priority - get them to wake up and pay attention on full stomachs

Topic - can be on our product (nurse triage and disease management software), my area (proposals, contracts and custom project services) or anything silly

Physical activity is always high on my list but time allowance will only be about 5 mins so can't have people run around the run too much.

About 20-25 people max from 3 areas which have not previously worked together (can you tell we're in another annual chaotic re-org?).

Huh? You'll have to elaborate. Does it involve holly bushes?
