I used Powergrips on my old bike that I started commuting on, a Ross 10 speed. It is a lot like riding with toe clips. You need to angle your foot to get into the strap, and the weight of the strap tends to make it rotate to the underside of the pedal. It does hold your foot on the pedal, and is easy to get out of in a hurry. They are also easy to use in icy conditions where cleat mechs may freeze. I had no problems shortening the straps enough and I wear a 37 shoe. They are good to use in the winter with warm boots. If you have any specific questions PM me.
