    Need Helmet Light Info

    To disable ads, please log-in.

So my first 12 hour solo race is coming up and you are supposed to have 2 light sources on you. I have a dual light handle bar mounted light but I don't have a helmet mount one. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to spend a lot of money on it since this would be my first night race and I may not like it, but I will do another one in July, so at the minimum, I'll use it for two races!

I saw this one on ebay that got great reviews if you click on the testimonial link:

    Thanks for your feedback!

I don't have other suggestions for you...but an hour run time seems kinda short to me if you think you might ever want to use it for anything else...

    Good luck!

I agree that an hour isn't long enough. Look at some of the bright LED lights. Serfas makes a terrific LED light, the "ultrabright". It is very small, and I don't know if it has a helmet mount but it would be the perfect weight for a helmet. I've used this light when I started any of my double centuries before sunrise, and it was perfect.

This light gets consistantly good reviews. Sahalie, for one, carries it. I'm sure you can Froogle it.

"With all the talk about expensive and complex lighting....don't forget the other end of the spectrum. I used a terrific product on a rainy 300K brevet last night....the EOS by Princeton ($38). This one-watt Luxeon has current regulation for constant brightness, two brightness levels, and enough light for use as a secondary to ride by. It also gives a lot of light for map reading and tire changing. I had the previous Aurora model for a couple years...which was good....but this one blows it away.

    Thanks
