Hey Robbin, leg warmers go UNDER the shorts...

Silly me...couldn't figure out why they were falling down. :-D Duuuh....

My question to y'all though is, what about butt warmth? Are my shorts summer shorts? (PI Ultra Sensor...I think.) Are there thicker shorts? Other folk on the ride were just wearing warmers.....

I only went with the leg warmers because I was on the hunt for new tights (tights currently owned were bought long before better chamois technology), but found full length Cannondale warmers for $20. My thought was ...woo hoo, I've got new shorts, I'll just get these.

    Thanks for all your help!

    Robbin -
You're right - the warmers work better under your shorts. As far as layers go,
    • if the temperature is above 50 degrees, I usually wear my knee warmers.
    • if the temperature is in the 40s, I wear shorts with (kind of insulated) tights over them - my favorites right now are made of Polartec Power Stretch.
    • if the temperature is in the 20s or 30s, I wear my shorts + knee warmers + my Power Stretch tights.

What was the temperature on your ride when your butt was cold?

Oh, and if you're interested in the Power Stretch tights, they are on sale at REI right now. You should be able to easily find them by searching for Power Stretch Tights.

I only wear PI shorts (Attack, I think). I've bought cheaper shorts but they just don't do, so I buy one pair of PIs every year and now I have lots (they last around 5 years for me)

Between 30F and 70F I wear my Sugoi winter tights over shorts. I would wear knickers in the 60-70F range if I had them, but I don't, so my Sugois are good.

Anything under 30F I wear my goretex pants over my shorts and winter tights. That's been fine down to 19F. It doesn't get much colder than that where I live.

I find leg warms uncomfortable, but that's just me.
