    2015 Amira SL4 Comp vs 2014 Amira SL4 Expert

Hey! Me again with my ideas!

I have the 2014 Expert model (black with "zebra" stripes - that those who've been following my bikes saga know I hate). Wanted to have it repainted but would lose the warranty. But the bike is a dream to ride. Super good on hills, stable, etc. I don't care much about riding fast but it's nice when you push the pedals, it's gone at the speed of light.

Now!!! I was lurking on my local bike shop store web and saw they have the Amira Comp 2015 on sale. $2600 instead of $3200.

I know the Expert like mine is Carbon 10R and the Comp is 9R. 10r makes your bike a bit lighter but I'd doubt the difference would be noticeable by someone like me who's not into racing, etc.

Now... anyone can tell me (as I can't really understand) what is the biggest difference since geometry is the same.

If I was to do a trade-in with my zebra bike, I know I would be short-changed 1) losing in $ and some quality in the exchange 2) I would get a probably "cheaper" model for more moneey due to exchange. If I could have only the frame I would keep all my current parts but it would not work this me as LBS wpuld not dismantle a bike just to give me the frame.

My mind is set on not changing since I feel I'd be losing in this transaction but I still love the colour. It truly falls in my color palettes Glossy ditry whie and pink stripes. And my American Classic wheels (which have pink/purple in them would fit to a "t").

So does someone know what beside the carbon frame really makes the price so high between the Comp and the Expert? I don't care much for wheels as I'd keep my current ones anyway.

I'm sure I'd be losing another $1000 on the exchange. Still a lot of money. But if the frame 9r vs 10r is the only thing, I can live with it. I looked to see how much I could get for mine in selling it on my own but there are none for sale. NONE. In more than 500km around! grrr So I can't even compare.

    Thanks.

Thanks Muireen for your input. When I discussed this last night with hubby, I told him I did not want to trade in my Expert for a "lower" quality bike and end up paying more on top of this, due to devaluation of my current bike. It would too ridiculous for me. When he heard my point of view, he agreed. It just that the bike was just same name, just a notch down from my Expert and I figured if I truly could have gotten a deal out of this at bike shop, it was so tempting. But not at any price either.
