Hail, thunder/lightning & windstorm- glad to avoid

Today I was glad not to have bike-commuted to work....there was a high windstorm and hailstorm (size of golf balls), rain that caused flooding. The hailstorm came down twice within 2 hr. period around when work shifts finish. Our office building for 2,000 employees, leaked from the roof for past 2 days.

Yesterday I just made it home by bike...8 minutes later, the wind whipped up to 90 km. / hr., driving hail and rain. Scary. I had never seen a hailstorm so violent. I was amazed to see people lolling along leisurely on the bike-ped.path just minutes before the storm, when clearly a black large cloud mass was moving towards all of us. I would be nearly running home, not walking. The storm yesterday resulted in flooding, smashed branches all over the place.

And heard emergency sirens at 15 different times throughout the city the whole evening.

Calgary by any chance? Heard all about it. Used to live there an experienced a few crazy hail storms there.

That is one heavy storm that came through….glad you’re safe and hope everyone you know is too. The quick zero visibility freaks me out especially when driving.
Canada, Calgary especially, has a lot of storm planes that spray silver iodide into the clouds….it could have been larger hail….see…so your were lucky.

    Stay safe!!!!!

    yup that's where we are.

A cyclist reported his wife came to pick him and bike up by car. A motorcyclist skidded in front of them, on the hailstones across 3 car lanes and fell off. The hailstones in our area can be large and it hurts to be hit by them.
