He ditched his car! Only a matter of time before he was caught anyway. But still, can you imagine how terrifying it must be for an 18 year old (or anyone) to hit and kill a cyclist?

It's still awful that this cyclist was hit and killed in a Hit & Run, but I was very surprised to see that the driver later turned himself in! Maybe there really is hope for humanity...

Well, the cynic (who, me?) might say that he turned himself in AFTER the alcohol worked it's way out of his sytem. All speculation of course - I have no information. But it's telling that after he hit the cyclist, he hit another vehicle a half mile down the road.

I can forgive a young driver for panicking and responding badly, and at least he knew when the game was over. But, yeah... I suppose that revisiting the details of this incident his actions are much less redeeming than they initially seemed.
