    Dark Pink Bar Tape?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I am trying to find pink bar tape, but I need a darker pink to match my new frame. I can find pastel pink but not a magenta pink, any ideas?

Terry has some, but I haven't seen it in person. I've got some Cinelli that's a real hot-pink and black.

Giant might have some to match the T-Mobile pink - my old Cannondale was the t-Mobile black/pink flames, and the Cinelli matched pretty well. What bike are you trying to match?

Crystal researched this at GirlBike. Don't forget the pink Schwalbe tires available here on TE. Which brings to mind the question whether TE carries any.

Yeah, I've got the Schwalbe, and Continental GP3000's also come in black and magenta. I LOVE them!

I know that Hi-Tech Bicycles in San Diego carries the T-mobile tape if ya get desperate to find it... you could order it from them... I had it on my bike for a while!

Might not be dark enough but TE does have pink tape. You have to look under saddles.

Is it hard to put on your own bar tape? I sort of re-did mine, and it didn't seem bad, but I'm nervous aobut starting from scratch. I have so much stuff to go around, too, lights and all.

Nanci, I've done all my bikes. It's not that hard, but it usually takes a time or two to get it to look right. I would HIGHLY suggest taking off the lights and stuff before you do it. The only thing that should be incorporated into the tape are the brake lever hoods. I actually like doing it - it's a pretty easy way to customize the look of your bike.

I think the lights are usually mounted right near the stem, where the bar tape stops, so you can still put your hands everywhere else. The lights could also be tightened over the tape.

Are you saying that your tape goes around the lights? I might be completely off here, but I've never seen that. Does anyone else have input on this?

The stem is in the middle. The computer takes up a half inch to the right. The aerobars take up the next half inch. The aero bars have to be there to be narrow enough for me. The next half inch is the lights, one on each side. So really, there is no tape out about 1.5 inches from the stem. Just wait till I get my Baggins Candy Bar Bag from Rivendell and try to squeeze that in there somewhere...At least that will go over the tape...

I think my hoods are _over_ the tape, so that was part of what was worrying me- I don't want to mess around with them. Maybe they just look like it, though.

    Thanks,

    Nanci

The brake lever hoods are over the tape. Just roll them back a bit while you are wrapping.

Don't put any kind of clamp over bar tape because you'll pinch the cables.

Go to your LBS and ask to look through the QBP catalog. It has every color known to man, most shops order from QBP often enough they won't charge shipping.
