    First Century Completed!

Thank you for all your encouragement and advice. I made it!
I was the 3rd person to finish in my group, we had about 15 riders. I think it hit 90 out there (Palm Springs), not too sure. I did not get one flat, but almost everyone in my group did, one gal got 4 flats. I rode my own pace, the first 30 miles, then speed up with the groups help the next 30. There were so many flat tires that we eventually had to split up. It took my about 7 hours.

ACG, Fantastic! And there you were, posting that you didn't think you'd even make the century ... and you came in the top 3 of your group!!

Excellent job ACG! I know it seems so "big" in our minds until we actually do it, then we realize it's just numbers! Well Done my friend!!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

ACG - That's wonderful!!! (my goal for next year). Was there any apparent reason for the flats?

Good job on your first century. Palm Springs is not that easy in spite of what others will say plus it was hot.

The flats may have been "pinch" flats. The roads out there are very rough in spots. Plus alot of goat head thorns everywhere, especially with all the wind we had lately.

    GOOD JOB!

the goat heads are bad this year brie (our dog) brings them into the house and they HURT when you step on one!

i have NEVER seen so many riders on the side of the road fixing flats! i didn't have one thank goodness! but i had a cleat problem! got it fixed and finished the ride!

the weather was gorgeous! warm... not too hot! a BEAUTIFUL day!!!!!! i loved that they iced the oranges down at the park sag! nice treat having cold oranges (and cold water!)

make sure you look for your picture on photocrazy!
