    So tired of injuries!

I've been working three days a week since August at our high density storage facility (I work at a university library). Initially it was supposed to be a permanent transfer but my 52 year old body wasn't up to the rigors of the warehouse component of the job.

In December, I smashed a finger when handle broke on a tray full of books, landing on my little finger. Took a few weeks to heal up and while it still aches, it's mostly better.

Fast forward to Wednesday, I was climbing down off the fork lift (we use it to retrieve books off the 40' high shelves) and my bad knee (the one that's already had five surgeries) buckled and I hit the ground like a ton of bricks. I hyper-flexed my bad knee and struck my back on the edge of the lift. Now I'm on crutches for three weeks and have to see an ortho surgeon because "the amount of swelling you have is indicative of an internal tear or rupture".

I am so sick of being hurt!!!!!!!!

((((Pax)))). I'm so sorry. What a sucky (is that a word?) run of bad luck. I'd give you a big hug if I could.

    Thanks Indy.

Spoke - they will most likely move me back to a desk job at the main facility.

Sorry Pax, that sux! Hope you'll heal up soon, and no more injuries!

I do feel your pain on the "52 year old body". I turn 52 in April, and I seem to be getting one injury after another. My current one is a sore ball of right foot. It doesn't seem like much, but it means I have to wear shoes inside all the time (we live in a tiled condo), no more stair-climbing (which I'd added to my workout and probably brought this on), limit the length of my walks, and even yoga hurt on Wednesday. I've been icing and hope it won't hang around too long -- it's not like we have a podiatrist here on the island, or even the ability to buy gel insoles. Just one more thing I took for granted in the US!
