I found thisquote in the most recent issue of Bicycle times and in spite of the fact that the writer is talking about the Alley Cat Rondo in St. Petersburg, Fl , it so perfectly describes what riding is like in Houston from May through September that I want to pass it on.

"The weirdest thing about riding through the heat is that at some point I ca't even tell if I am still sweating. I squirt half my water bottle on my head and shoulders and the water is so warm I ca't even feel it against my skin. My sunglasses are so blurred with sweat that they are rendered useless and it's o good trying to wipe them on my jersey. There is a constant headwind seemingly every direction I turn. My mind wanders through fantasis of food. All I can thing about is something SUGARY......and SWEET................ and COLD!"

We are having a blessed few days of temps under the 80's with lower humidity. But the temps ad humidity will be back too soon.

I agree that it is a totally accurate description (although I don't know about the Texas thing). It is definitely an accurate description for the greater bay area of Florida.

Yup, that sounds like an accurate description of riding in Houston (I lived there for 13 years). I find that Austin has the added "benefit" of unending hills, so you get to sweat, fight the wind, and grunt up hills for hours. Could it be that we are all masochists?

My thoughts exactly! Road from Ft. Lauderdale to Delray Beach and back on Sunday. It was a charity ride, so they didn't want to start in the dark, so it was waaaayy to hot in the later miles. My fingers were so sweaty I was having trouble shifting. Keep slipping.

BTW, I was riding in Plantation last Saturday. Lots of road debris to navigate. Egad.
