    Bruised muscles

I had a clipless fall the other day where I bruised the side of my leg where I hit the ground - I kept hold of the bars so I wouldn't try to break my fall with my hand/wrist - I broke a wrist that way 30 years ago and haven't forgotten that lesson.

The leg doesn't look bruised, but it is sore to the touch and I feel it when I walk. It isn't the hip, it is below that point. It hurts to walk but not to ride

Given my tendency to ignore stuff I am curious if others would be riding with this. It isn't hammie nor quad - though I am unsure what muscle that actually IS. I've checked out several diagrams on the internet and it might be my IT band.

I just want to be in as good shape as I can be for my clinic next week - but I need to get out there in the heat this week and work on acclimating to it on the bike.

ED: It is spitting rain out there, so the weather may well take the decision out of my hands. Probably allowing the leg to rest is the best thing anyway, tomorrow is another day

Can you put an ice pack on it to bring down the swelling? Should make it feel better too. Big ziplock baggie with ice?

hmmm, good idea! That and a glass of delightful Porter and a good book! I never think about icing things on my own for some odd reason...

I hope YOU are feeling better !?!

I have no advice, just wanted to say that I'm suffering with you here, though for different reasons. I finally got a foam roller for my IT band and overdid it yesterday. I can walk without limping for the first time in days, but the whole side of my leg there is sore to the touch! So no foam rolling today. And ice sounds great. Actually, it's finally 90 in denver...might be a good day for an ice bath.

An ice bath does sound good - the hard part about not riding today is it is nice and cool out there...but I really want this soreness to go away. The ice did seem to help. Hope your soreness is gone quickly!

This doesn't mean I remember to ice things down.
Yes, I am feeling better, no longer nauseated. Knee is just cranky.
