Tortilla cat likes one chair in the house, so if you're in it you have a 18 lb cat to share. It is my husband who usually sits there but she is my cat.

I fought the battle of the bluge with Herald for years, which included measured amounts of Rx cat food, and NO treats. It was slow, but his weight did come down to 17 from 22. Unless they are supplementing their diets with lizards, mice, or insects; we are responsible for the amount of calories they get. It also meant, that I had to monitor food bowls, because the other house kitties weren't on a restricted diet, but he was only allowed to have HIS food. I even put his food in a different color and shaped dish to help distinguish.

He would always follow me into the kitchen. Once when I was washing dishes, he puts is paw gently on my leg, looks up and meowed. I could just imagine the line from Oliver, "please, sir, may I have some more?

They told me can food helps, she got tired of it and starting eating Heidi's food so she could crunch again. I measure her food but she still has that gross swinging belly.

We put him on an all chicken diet (Wellness canned food.) He's lost about two pounds, but he's still a big boy at 15.5 pounds. The dry food we had him on seemed to make him lethargic. The all meat diet seems to give him more energy. I wish he had just a little less exuberance at 3:30 AM. Actually, it kind of makes me laugh - he's so anxious for us to get up.

The pair of them eat one large can of food a day. As an experiment to see if we could take off for 30 hours or so, I put out a whole can of food at once one day. They are definitely grazers and it took them 24 hours to eat that amount.
