Bike Pumps

I'm sure that people have bike pump preferences; both the little ones that are strapped to your bike and the big ones you keep at home. I have a old Wrench Force that I have trouble with - specifically getting it locked. Plus I practically have to jump on it to get the pressure in. Could y'all tell me what your experience has been? What's worked good for you and what hasn't.

I have the Topeak Road Morph pump for my Trek 520. I like that it has a guage and is pretty easy to use. It even has a flip out foot peg to help while filling tires. I got a good deal on it at REI when they had a 20% coupon too

Home = Planet Bike floor pump, dual valve head so you don't have to switch internals to go between schrader and presta.

Bike = Topeak Road Morph; rare occassions I have used a Portland Design Works combo mini pump/CO2 pump (looks better than it works).

I LOVE the Lezyne pump; I couldn't ask for something easier to use, lighter, or slicker looking.

I HATE the Ascent pump; it's difficult to get it attached to either Presta or Schrader valves, and the head is difficult to fit between my spokes on the 16" wheeled bike. I used the Topeak JoeBlow Sport II pump when I was out of the house one day, and it was so much easier to use.

I've used my bf's Blackburn pump since I started riding. He got it in '98. I would sometimes (always) struggle to get it to latch on. Since I never used another pump, I thought this was normal. Then one day, I couldn't get it on at all. I took it into the lbs and they saw I was missing a part (probably a screw, I'm sure you're not surprised ). They put on a new valve. It's heavenly now! I never knew it was supposed to be easy! Best $6 (for the valve) I ever spent.

Topeak road morph !
When you first buy it, examine it closely and you will quickly see that it is an engineering marvel. How clever to give you a flap to stand on, to be able to pull this, turn that and suddenly you have a wonderful pump that even a weeny armed woman can pump her tires up to full strength.

At home I have a joe blow pump, but it would be tough to carry that around on my bike.

I've got a Serfas pump which replaced one of an unknown brand. It does both kinds of valves and is super easy to use.

I also had a hard time at first feeling like I had to sit on the handle to actually get air in tires, but as my physicist brother and engineer father explained to me - if you want 120 lbs/sq. in, and you weigh 120 lbs and the tube is 1"... you pretty much have to sit on it. After a while you feel pretty awesome because it gets easier and easier and it makes you feel really strong!

Road Bike - Blackburn CO2 system w/ 2 cartridges
Mtn Bike - Crank Bros. Power Pump

I opted for the CO2 system for my road bike to keep the turn around on replacing a tube to a minimum if I happen to get a flat on my way to work.

At home we have a really old Specialized pump we keep set up for Presta valves, and a Blackburn with a smart head (I love it!). For trails we have a Topeak Road Morph.
