    Yay for riding outside!

I did my first road ride of the season yesterday. I forgot how NICE it is to be outside! Last weekend DH worked on my bike recabling it, new bar tape, new cassette, new chain, new brake pads, new tires. It was like a new bike.

Silly girl, where have you been? I've been riding outdoors for over a month, now (though it's only been unmiserable for about the past week...though still less miserable than the trainer).

Now it just needs to be in the 60s or warmer on a regular basis!

Yay! Glad you finally got out. I've been riding outside since January, but I live in the south. Lucky me, but I'll be suffering in the summer heat/humidity.

I am just odd, am looking forward to the summer heat I have yet to be able to ride without at least a wind jacket, but I rode both last night and tonight in regular bike shorts, and no tights!!!!!!!!!!

Then I remembered the down-side of BMX pedals - they draw blood... am currently debating when to return to clipless and that will probably help Only got a few scratches though, the pedals were kind!

I totally agree -- I love rides with just shorts and a jersey (and my Keen sandals), but I've already had several of those in NC. What is tough for me is when it gets to be 90+ and the pavement is just boiling. Not so bad once you get going, and out in the country, but starting out from our apt. complex, where it can easily reach 100 degrees plus in the parking lot from the full sun and pavement, is not a memory from last summer that I cherish.

The midwestern heat is why I've changed my work schedule for the summer. NOW I can start my ride at 7pm rather than 4:45

I do wear a hydration pack, but it is well worth it as it is the only way I can come close to drinking enough in the heat. It also helps when it is full of ice

I've done a couple rides in heat like that. blehhh. Although, right now that doesn't sound so bad!

I have done a few gravel road rides on my mountain bike, but that was my first road ride--sooo smoooooooooth. Now I'm hankering after some single track.

I did a VERY nice group ride last night. About 28 miles we averaged about 16 MPH I had only my short sleeved jersey and knickers. I was very comfy outside. I'd love to go again today but its a lot cooler, it's still sunny though. I dunno, I may go out again for a good anxiety burner. Gotta write a paper and I know I'm going to be sitting on my A$$ for a long time. Ugh, I dunno about you girls but I get so neurotic when I can't get a good sweat on each day.
