did the Fort Bend "bike the bend for literacy" ride today with himself who has been doing spin classes but not a lit of riding and is looking and feeling like it. The ride was through an area we know like the back of our hands, and was only 35 miles long. It was however extremely windy- from the weather map and the New Bern scale on the flags it was in the 20-25 mph range. The worst part was that the only portion we had as a tail wind was a 5 mile stretch on the way out. I got some extra atta girl points which I awarded myself, for pulling himslef during all the the tail wind period of the ride. It's kind of fun to have the shoe on the other foot agter all the years he has insisted on pulling me even though it is often pretty obvious that I am fresher, marginally stronger, and have about 10 x the amount of plain old riding experience in all sorts of conditions that he has.
It was a nice ride in spite of the winds. The temps were decent and we both managed the entire ride without bailing at a SAG stop. I don't avail myself of rest stops unless I am desperate, but this is the first time he has gone that far without stopping and without complaining.
It was nice.
