Yay for you indeed!
This coming weekend I am doing a 56 and 55 mile rides back to back. It will be the first time doing that for me. I think it is safe to say that I will do nothing else the whole weekend!!

I rode a total of 78 miles this weekend 36 yesterday and 42 today all at above my typical speed so I guess the extra time doing both speed and resistance intervals on the elliptical trainer while my 90 year old resident FIL works with a trainer is paying off.
yay for me and increasing speed, it's been a long time since I have seen the speed bump up.
Of course, not having done a really hammering back to back in about 6 months has me pretty much wiped out tonight but it sure felt good. I just need to juggle the schedule around or start riding in the afternoons after a trainer session, which I could do now that it is cooler, or make a concentrated point of working in two rides each weekend.
oh the possibilities
The weather has been cool and dry, unfortunately the winds have switched to coming off the gulf so the humidity is back but at least the temps seem to holding themselves down to the mid 80's and we do need rain.

Congratulations!!!!
And good luck Ariel. I know you'll do great.
I too know that feeling of doing NOTHING else all weekend. I just came off a "high volume weekend." 30mi sat, 120 mi sun, and 30mi monday morning. Ugh, 180miles in 3 days! But what ELSE did I do this weekend??? Um, I watched a bike race, does that count as something else? Yeah, didn't think so. Other than that my off the bike time was spent eating, sleeping, and laying on the sofa watching tv :-)
Nonetheless (and I mean, despite the dishes still in the sink) I feel like I accomplished something this weekend! And here in chicago, there won't be too many weekends left where I can ride that much (it will start snowing, whether I like it or not), so I am going to enjoy the good whether while I can!
Marni - congrats on your back-to-back and speed accomplishments. I know all to well, just how physically draining a high volume weekend can be. Two weekends ago, I rode the most I've ever ridden, over 4 consecutive days - 80 miles on Saturday, 101 on Sunday, 56 on Monday, and 48 on Tuesday...whew!!! Yeah, I was pretty much useless, for the rest of the week.![]()
Now that the weather is cooling off and the sun is rising later, my rides have started to become shorter...which I gladly welcome.![]()

You gals are downright inspirational! Reading stuff like this helps me to push harder and go longer. Thanks for sharing.
I've been watching my weekly mileage tick upwards too, but it is downright puny compared to the numbers I see being posted here. None the less, I may get there someday, thanks to the forum gals.

I really miss the wonderful long weekends when I had a long ride or two every weekend between 50-70 miles....picture me casting a stern eye toward my stubborn leg...but reading of others wonderful rides allows me to live vicariously until it heals![]()
