I have friends who do what is known as s24o's, that is sub 24 hour overnighters though I haven't yet.

Now that I think about it, people do it on the C&O Canal towpath all the time.

    What's the site?

wildcat camp in point reyes. right near the beach! i have talked some to someone sort of near me who knows the area and does bikepacking with his son which is cool because i am taking my almost 3 year old son. so getting to hear some about how it is pulling a trailer to a site! sounds like getting out of camp will be a lot of uphill and getting to camp will be pretty easy.

I haven't tried it but it sounds like fun. If you haven't got a trailer for your son yet, take a look at the Weehoo pedal trailer. Your child can actually pedal it AND he's strapped in AND he has his own panniers. I asked the owner of the company if it can go offroad and he told me that he takes his son out on singletrack with it all the time. We just got one a week ago and my 6 year old scaredy-cat daughter loves it.
    She's going the distance...

i meant to reply to this sooner. i think i get a bit frazzled running around after my son we have a chariot trailer we will use but i am very interested in at some point getting some sort of pedal trailer or tag along bike or whatever they are called. how old does a child need to be for a weehoo pedal trailer? my son is turning 3 in october and i think i would want him to be a little older than he is now but i am really looking forward to him being able to pedal too!
