Lookit what my hubby ordered today!!!

We have been talking about getting this for a while (this will allow our family of 3 to ride together, since DS is 9.5 and not quite ready for his own road bike)...and nearly pulled the trigger about a month ago, but then BOTH of our f'ing cars threw check engine lights within days of each other. Mine still has one, but we fixed what we thought was the problem (leaky gas cap) and within days it lit again...it's still a vapor/emissions leak of some sort. We're going to ignore it for a few thousand more miles, until it's due for its 60k mile service.

DH dumped a few hundred bucks into new brakes and an O2 sensor, but decided the bike was still worth the expense, since we should have it in 6 weeks--we'll still get a month or two of riding in.

The bike would be too big for me to ride captain, but the stoker seat will adapt to anyone from 3'6" - 6'2"...perfect for either DS or I to ride behind my hubby.

Ooh, looks like fun. BF hates the idea of tandems.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

Heh...I have a feeling I won't spend much time on the back of it--I'm too much of a control freak.

Tandem riding is SOOOO much fun! You'll love it. Chris and I have put a good 6,000 miles on the one we got in '05. It's a blast!

DH and I test rode a tandem while at Bike Virginia. I was surprised to find that I really didn't mind not steering and not shifting, as long as DH communicated to me what he was doing. I loved being able to look around, really scan well for cars, and take pictures.

I think I'd have to be in the right mood to ride a tandem on a particular day, but it definitely didn't bother me as much as I thought it would.

That's awesome! We've been tandeming for 13 years or so and absolutely love it. We have a co-motion and I can't say enough good things obout the bike. We have a "speedster" and have considered adding the periscope to the collection - the back seat post gives you lot's of flexibility to who is in the back, kids, hubby, what ever.

Enjoy the daylights out of that thing!!!

    Way to go!

Our Co-Mo tandem is the best thing we ever bought. So much better than a boat or a camper or a cabin. One time a survey asked if we "owned a Recreational Vehicle" and we looked at each other and said "yes."
Each day is a gift, that's why it is called the present.

I love hearing that others have Co-Motion bikes and love them. This is definitely not a cheap toy (I know a lot of non-cyclists would at what we're paying--even with a 10% discount from the shop, since the owner is a close friend), but one that I know will get TONS of use over the years.

I think I will enjoy the occasional ride on it, too...though I can forget trying to see anything ahead of us--hubby is 6'2" and very broad-shouldered (I am just under 5'4"). I love the idea of taking along a camera to photograph things while we're on the move...or maybe making some videos, too!
