    PPTC question

I just tried to try out a PPTC ride. It was a 34 mile ride starting at Glen Echo. I ended up not doing it because no women showed up. I'm guessing that's not typical but was there some way I could have figured that out before hand?

I've been riding with VeloDCity thru meetup.com - those are no-drop rides and the leader rides with the slowest riders (that would be me).

    Thanks.

I ride alone, so I can't comment on the PPTC rides (although I am a PPTC member).

Did you not feel comfortable riding w/just the guys? I'm not judging, just curious. Were they a bunch of racer wannabes?

Since you're in MD, check out local DC metro VeloBellas. They have Tuesday evening rides, that I believe start in Bethesda or Potomac. I'm pretty sure these are no drop rides, mostly women. Contes website a link to the info (google contes bikes).

    thanks for the tip!

--- gender really doesn't matter to me, I just want to feel comfortable. but at the level of knowledge and skill I have, I really value the company of women. It's easier somehow.

Of course they aren't going to say how many men and women are going to be on the ride--one never knows until one shows up. I've always found the PPTC rides very friendly. Perhaps you can try a lower-level if you think that the riders were too advanced for you.

I think you should have tried it at least, assuming that you can ride the posted pace and distance.
