    My New P-38 Bike

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Well folks, I bought a used Lightning P-38, a bike that has won many race records. It doesn't look like much, but put a F40 fairing on it and she flies!!

I'm not crazy about red, but I got it for only $800 (a $3,000 bike!). She about ten years old, and yes, friction shifters. Any of you remember friction shifters on your downtube on your road bikes??!!

So here she is, all washed and waxed today.

Bar end friction shifters are not at all uncommon

I guess they named the bike after the military can opener that was included in the old C-rations
yes, I'm so old I got c-rations, not MRE's. they even had cigarettes included

I am not a huge red fan, but it will work. I think I'll call her Rosie.

My partner hated the pictures of the bike before I got her. Thought it was gookie looking.

After I rode it in the driveway this weekend, she fell right in love with it.

It's a bike you HAVE to see in person, and ride. After that you will never turn back!!
