    2009 Recap, 2010 Resolutions Anyone?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I just pulled up my list of resolutions for 2009 from last year's thread:

    1) Do one positive thing to feel proud of each day-- either for myself or for someone else. I lost sight of this one

    2) Books to read/finish in 09:
Anna Karenina, Interpretation of Dreams, Seven Storey Mountain, Catch-22. (list expanding/changing
    Epic fail.

    3) Run no less than 10 and no more than 35 miles/week Success!

    4) Eat to be stronger/healthier. Getting better at this...

    5) Complete half ironman (unless injured!). I didn't do a half, I had a summer internship and could only do two tri's this year!

    6) Be disciplined and focused with school work (many sub-resolutions in this cataory)!! Success!

I had a great 2009, I feel SO lucky and fortunate for the past year. 2007-2008 was really rough, following a move and a death in my immediate family--2009 was literally sink or swim. And Im proud to say I've really turned some things around. Granted, Im not there yet, Im still finishing my master's degree this year. But looking back, I was very very very fortunate and had many wonderful opportunities this past year.

    Resolutions for 2010 anyone?

I haven't thought of any yet, besides ride my bike more Oh, and maybe the half ironman thing. And to continue working hard and have a little faith in what's next.

    Happy New Year!!

Only? only two tri's? Congratulations on your tri's! Many people dream of ever completing one.

Where's the 09 thread? I forget what I said oh, here it is:

spend more time in Aikido so my teacher remembers that I'm there and maybe get my next rank though that's entirely up to her and.... check! But fell off the wagon somewhat, gotta get back in.
do at least the metric on Bike Against the Odds, even after ALC the most I could do there was the 49 mile. Totally blew that, did not do a single organized ride due to work on the remodel. I plan to do the Cindy next year and unless I'm done with the condo soon that could be it.

new for this year I am now jogging, yes jogging with the doggie.

Knott has signed us up for a half mary in March. Till recent weeks when felled by a cold I was increasing my training miles and hours and doing fine. I can now walk an easy pace for 20 minutes without coughing up a lung. I hope to quickly get back on track.

The only organized ride I did last year was the Cindy and that was a bad experience. Oh how the mighty have fallen. OTOH I got to ride with Duck on Wheels who did well and that was fun. But I was hurtin'

I need to get back in the dojo both for my personal desire to do Aikido and because I hate to stretch but I'll do it as part of MA training.

I have never set any real goals sport wise, so I guess there is always a first time right?

I need to mix it up so I am not just doing one thing. I have been stuck in cycling mode for years it seems. So in an effort to change things up, I have pulled on my running shoes. I have a 5K in March that I want to do. If the training all goes ok, I would like to go for a 10K trail. Right now this seems like not even possible. I went on my first run today, I did 2.6 miles in an hour on rollling hilly trails. That seems terrible. I guess it all depends where you start. Then when the temp is over 100 and I can't cycle, I will attempt to do some swimming here locally. I still have to do some research on that some more.

If I can do these things, I think I will have accomplished something. By checking in and telling everyone what I am doing at least makes me accountable to myself. So TE girls help me as much as possible.

I forgot to mention that I am still looking for work too. That is my other job.

    Thanks,

I didn't do any in 2009 - whew. It was a year to forget.

    2010:
    1. Joint with DH is to build our savings then start chipping away at debt.
    2. Run a half marathon

Yep, that is all I am going to set right now. 2009 was so hard I just want to live to enjoy everyday I have. Tell my pets, husband and family I love them as often as possible. I didn't think I would lose my Nanny and my wonderful dog so soon in 2009, I just don't want to leave anything unsaid.

It's really strange thinking of the start of the year as being January--I tend to think of the year starting in August or September!

So, New Year's Resolutions of sorts:
    1) Kick butt in my classes.
    2) Related to the first, improve my time management skills with a definite schedule.
    3) Improve my core strength so that my back and shoulders don't hurt when I ride.
    4) Read some of the books that have been on my shelf begging to be read for three years!
    5) Ride more often and for longer distances. I want to do a metric century this year.
    6) Learn to cook Indian food properly...or as properly as possible.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

    I didn't have any resolutions for 2009...

So, here I go for 2010... These are more goals than resolutions
    1. Find a job in Q1. This is of utmost importance as it lays the groundwork for the rest of the year. I was laid off in Aug and then a whole bunch of personal issues got in the way of my job hunt at the end of 2009.

    2. Get a personal trainer to help me be healthier so DH and I can start planning our family. I need the motivation as I've proven that I cant do it on my own.

    3. Buy a house at the end of summer or fall.
