Anyone go on a good ride today?

I went on a great ride today. We went 70 miles (while, actually, I rode once around my block to get the extra .1 to put me over 70) with good, long climb in the middle. The route wasn't especially scenic or anything, but I did get to see lots of new housing developments! They seem to be our most freqently encountered scenery, with some notable exceptions.

It was my longest ride to date, and I felt great the whole time, despite having menstrual cramps beforehand. The only time they were a problem was when I stopped! Maybe I've found the solution to cramps - stay on the bike for the duration of your period.

Nice ride, Simple... unfortunately I am bound mostly to the trainer because it is too damned cold and dark before and after work here at the moment... but am hoping to get outside today... heavy frost this morning but the sky promise a clear and windfree day... here's hoping

As for the cramps --- why doesn't someone tell the doctor's? Then I could get a medical certificate to excuse me from work and I could ride for a week - ah bliss...

I did a 30 mile ride this morning with my hubby and brother. Didn't get started till around 11:00 as it stormed a little this morning and we were all lazy and wanted to sleep. It's been a while since I've ridden with hubby and he can tell I'm starting to get stronger. It will be a long while before I can keep up with him but it feels great to see the improvement.

I had a beautiful ride today. Perfect temps, in the mid-70's. Sunny, a bit of wind but nothing too bad. I went out by myself because I am training to a do a week-long self-supported ride, so have been taking the loaded BOB trailer when I ride. Difficult to ride with those skinny bikes and keep up!!! And my normal training BOB training partner was busy........ So I went out alone. And loved it! Green, growing things everywhere! Birds singing. Wildflowers by the roadside. And with no one to talk to, I noticed everything around me and appreciated it's beauty. It wasn't an easy ride, lots of hills, but I went my pace, got a great workout and ended up with 70 miles. Bliss, pure bliss, that's what it was. I treasure days like this. They don't come along often enough but enough to keep my spirit soaring.

Impossible to explain to non-biking family and friends. They don't know what they're missing!!!!

I think the same thing. While I was out today, I wondered if DH would ever come see all these places with me. Not that the housing developments are great scenery, but one ride I do has this climb up to the most beautiful view I've seen around here. He doesn't know what he's missing!

Was not able to get out and ride today, but did go for a nice hike up in the Colorado Mountains. Very beautiful alpine flowers this time of year. Hope to go riding tomorrow.

Only 37 miles today & already 90 degrees when I pulled in. Went through 100 oz of water - camelback & bottles. Ugh.

I took today off, watched all the tour coverage, read a book, did a few chores.

I led a Class D ride for my club today. My favorite route. 10 of us, 17.3 miles, average 11.75 mph. The weather was good, overcast so not too hot. I have breakaways on my rides because they usually have some Class C riders who don't want to go on a longer ride.

Let's see, Bubba's car was broken into yesterday and he lost 2 cell phones (one only two weeks old), 2 watches needing batteries and, of course, the car window. So, we delivered the car to the Audi dealership 20+ miles away at 8 am this morning then thought we'd kill some time before we could find someplace open to look for a watch. My car's CD played broke several months ago and we were on auto row with car stereo shops. 4 shops later we found one that was open, picked out a new radio/cd player and were told to bring the car back at 11 for a 2 hr installation. So, we went down to the mall and walked the entire length two times as places slowly started opening up. We then delivered the car at 11, walked back to the mall and walked it again twice to get the watch and look for a couple other things. Now, mind you, portions of this mall are outdoors with acres of asphalt and Sacatomatoland was headed for 100 degrees today and I came close to heat exhaustion yesterday. We then walked back to the auto stereo place to find they hadn't even started on my car so we then had to walk to the Audi dealership about 3/4 of a mile down the ugliest road in Sacramento (by national vote). We got his car, drove back to the car stereo place where my car still wasn't done. So, we sat outside because we can't stand the booming bass beats inside the store. Half and hour later, I'm desperate and go back in. They're missing a part but will run over to Best Buy to get it if we'll wait. I'm about ready to scream when they finally tell us there is a waiting room with cold drinks and A/C. So, they lived to finish my car at 5 pm while I had a soda and a Mounds Bar.

Did I get to ride? No, I think not. We estimated we walked at least 4 miles in continuously worsening heat and no shade.

But I'm glad some of you had some joy. I'll live vicariously through your experiences.

I worked at my paycheck job both Saturday and Sunday, then I had family obligations. No riding. Blech.

I've been on night shifts this week, but found some time after I woke up yesterday to bike to a neighboring town, 38 miles round trip. It was my longest ride so far, and it went well, except for two things:

1. It was in the low 90s and I ran out of water (both bottle and camelback) a couple miles from my turn-around point. I felt my energy starting to flag, but managed to make it to the store and buy water, gatorade, and food. Fortunately it had cooled down so I didn't have that problem on the way back.

2. Due to thunderstorms a couple of counties away, the winds shifted, so I had stiff headwinds both out and on the way back.

But, I had fun, and hopefully will be able to get in another long ride on Friday (my day off).

So, they lived to finish my car at 5 pm while I had a soda and a Mounds Bar.

Oh, SK I am sooooo sorry. I HATE days like this...they are the ones that make me want to move to a little grass hut somewhere in the Amazon where I grow my own food and have to worry about non-human critters stealing my stuff.



I always ride better after a frustrating day! Maybe you'll get a nice PR surprise tomorrow morning (before it gets to be 100)!

I snuck out for my local "Apple Hill" ride thie evening. About 22 miles and sumthin like 2500 feet of climbing. It was cooler up there than at my house, the quail were out in hoardes, and there were very few cars on the road for some reason.
