wheeee! first road bike ride of the season :)

So today my pretty red road bike finally got to go out for a spin with me on top (my dh actually got to take her out on the first ride of the season a few days ago!). Wheeeeee! I'd forgotten how much more nimble a road bike feels, after riding a mtb all winter. My mtb sure felt sprightly after I took the studded tires off, but this was something quite different. I got so carried away I wasn't paying attention to the map, got slightly lost (not really, just rode farther than planned), and just barely made it in time to watch the football match my son was playing. 70 km altogether and a sweet, sweet ride indeed.

So I couldn't feel my toes after 20 minutes - I really REALLY need new shoes - but otherwise I was so pleased that I seem to have dialed in the fit nicely on this bike. Everything, reach, drops, saddle felt normal and comfortable even after not being on a road bike since October or so. Slightly tired neck but that's what I get for trying to make myself tiny.
Winter riding is much less about badassery and much more about bundle-uppery. - malkin

Isn't is amazing? I almost fell off in surprise at the first acceleration on my road bike after a winter of riding my commuter. Power just gets transmitted so neatly!

Glad you had a good ride!
