    Lost in the saddle

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I'm on the hunt for a saddle but i'm confused on which companies have ones for 155mm sit bone sizes. I could be here forever doing a search and don't want to rehash old threads...

Oh knowledgeable TE folks, please help!!!

    Brooks certainly.

The Specialized Jett comes in 155 I think. (They probably have others.)

There is at least one Selle Italia in that width too.

And loads of others I'm sure!

Horror stories, huh? I LOVE my Jett. It replaced the horrendous Bontrager that came on my Trek. To each their own I guess.

Btw, my Jett is a 155mm.

    hmm

Ok, not horror stories but it's in the hated saddles thread. Then agian, it's not good to generalize hey...

I'll see if i can find either down my way

Yeah I had issues with the Jett but it works great for others.

This being said, Selle Italia makes saddles that are virtually identical to the Specialized Jett (and others), but much better construction (real leather, sewed not stapled, etc.). Twice the price though.

I think there are Jetts in the Loved Saddles thread as well. I'm planning on one for my next saddle - I'm currently on a 155 mm Lithia which I like well enough but it's a bit too squishy. The Jett is very similar in shape, but firmer. Plus, if you order directly from Specialized they have a 30 day free trial, so you might be able to wheedle your LBS into giving you the same deal. Anyway I think most of Specialized's line comes in 155.

BUT, if your actual sitbone width is 155, then a 155 mm saddle will be too narrow.

Grog, which Selle Italia do you mean? From the website, their Lady saddle looks much more pear-shaped than the Jett.

I'm in the Jett hating thread. But I did find love with the Specialized Ruby. Like the men's toupe, flatter than the Jett with a great cutout. Comes in 155.

I have a Jett (well several...) and I think its dandy. Honestly I don't think loved or hated saddle threads are useful.... our bodies are all quite different and what is comfortable to sit on is very individual. For me a Brooks style saddle - which many people love very much, would be *very* uncomfortable.

The Bontrager Inform comes in 140, 150 and 160. There is a 90-day comfort guarantee.

I have a SLR Gel Flow which is the same as the Jett 135. (Actually the one online on the Selle Italia web site is 131 X 275 but I seem to remember that mine is wider. It's been a few years though... I could be wrong.)

The Lady SLR Gel Flow is 155 X 273 and a lot more t-shaped than the Lady Gel Flow (which I find really uncomfortable at 162 X 262 and a real pear shape). I think you'll find it in the Road / SLR section.

    This is an important point.

What's a Jett got to do with a Brooks?

Same thing a guy in my club kept saying last year, at the same time he couldn't ride two days consecutively or longer than 50 miles without horrible pain. Even though he had a Brooks on his "beater" bike that he loved.

Guess what he's got on all his bikes now?

I think CC was just reponding to my post where I discussed both. I don't think the two phrases are causally related.
