    Thumbs up Stevie Ray Vaughan

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I have scoured the internet and not had much luck, so I am hoping somebody out there is/or has been a fan of SRV.

Now, being really truthful here, I have never even heard of the guy, despite I was an avid fan of Eric Clapton and alike.

My almost 7 year old grandson, seems to be well into this type of guitar playing, already an avid fan of Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Guy, Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, Eric Clapton and many more.

What I am looking for is a decent picture of Stevie Ray Vaughan, so I can then get my partner to do a printable transfer then I can make a really cool T-shirt for him. Being a little chap, it is not the sort of T-shirt I could buy anywhere.

He is currently having guitar lessons and loving every minute of it, third lesson and he is strumming away to Smoke On The Water (Deep Purple).

AND finally, would anybody know of anywhere that I can buy personalised guitar plectrums, singles not vast quantities?

    Thanks for your time.

I saw Stevie Ray in concert and got some great photos.
Unfortunately that was in the dark ages before digital.

Stevie Ray Vaughn was in a class by himself. When he was first getting air time, Eric Clapton heard him on the radio and had to pull his car over to the side of the road to listen in awe at the non-stop riffs, and that Stevie never stopped to think through the next progression. The music just flowed out of him. I saw Stevie Ray Vaughn as an intro to Huey Lewis back in the early 80's.The jerks I was with wanted to leave the arena early to avoid the traffic. I found out the next day that the 2 groups had jammed together for the last number, and that people who left early were stupid to miss it. The day he died in the helicopter crash I cried and cried. What more he might have had in him.

There's an SRV concert special that they show on PBS sometimes. It rocks.

I think he played on a couple of David Bowie songs, too. Modern Love was one, I think.

p.s. your nephew has excellent taste.

Being in Austin, we have a statue of SRV, I wish I was down near Lady Bird Lake more often so I could snap your nephew a shot. My high school class song was voted to be "Life by the Drop" but my principal nixed that when he listened to the words deeper.

I saw his brother Jimmy last summer for free and he is amazing as well. Definitely not Stevie but talented none the less. Pretty mature taste for such a little guy!

CWO: Your nephew has great taste in guitarists, and he is a lucky guy to have an aunt who would go to such lengths for him! Would love to see what you end up with. SRV was one of the greats! Check him out on iTunes... for the mellower side: The Sky Is Crying is an unbelievable slow blues cd.

He is my little Grandson, my little pal, when we are in the car we have such a lot of fun, much like when I take him swimming, we mess about and laugh so much.

Not many years from now, he will not want the kisses and cuddles and fuss, so I am making the most of it.

If only he would let me win on the PS3 occasionally!

Last year he informed me when he gets to 21, he wants to have hair and skin like Jimi Hendrix..........I don't think I will be able to help out there.

I am hoping to win a DVD on eBay Stevie Ray Vaughan voodoo Chile for him, I might be able to use the pic on the front of that for the T-shirt.

Thanks for all the replies, later tonight I will read through them all properly.

I have checked out the SRV website and I think I will be able to use a photo from there.

It's been fascinating reading about him, I feel extremely ignorant having never even heard of him.

    Thanks again.

At long last, I found all the pics that I needed and because there were so many, decided to put them all on a pillow case for him:

I can't wait to see his little face.

    Thanks Kitty

Just checked it out on You Tube, oh my, doesn't he make it look easy!

BTW........my Grandson loved his pillowcase, I thought the transfers might be a bit rough for him to sleep on so I suggested he turned it over when he went to bed but no, he wouldn't have any of that.
