Woo-HOOOO!!!
I actually got to ride today for the first time since December 3rd!!!
It's been killing me, but the weird weather has been keeping us totally off our bikes for weeks. Ice storm, snowstorms, heavy freezing rain, flooding, icy roads, temps around zero or 10F, winds....you name it, what a very difficult winter for biking here. I remember last winter we were able to bike 'almost' the entire time all through the winter.
Anyway, today was 32F, sunny, and the roads were fairly dry!! (ignoring the piles of snow on the shoulders).
I got out there and di a very modest 10.5 miles. I chose an easy rolling route on main roads to avoid ice patches. Even the modest hills got my quads burning and my breathing hard...I'm out of shape now.
Well, this is a perfect little route for cold iffy weather when I'm out of shape just get my body going again.
I dressed just right for it and stayed warm but not sweaty, and my feet and hands were toasty and comfy.
I'm so happy and grateful for this one little ride!![]()

It's the wind been killing us lately. Rode mountain today. Weather overcast/ mid 50's- wore shorts, merino base top and a shell vest. Sorry all you cold weather girls! Had to shed the vest after 15 minutes. Climbed like crazy with 6 of my pals. Two hours of climbing and about 15 minutes of downhill. Got rained on for about 10 minutes. A very very tough ride.
Commuted today...brisk and 20's in the a.m., warming to 40's in the p.m. Was nice to be out and turning the cranks again.

OOh, ooh, I can post here! I bought a trainer today! I rode it for about 45 minutes, sweated buckets, and didn't think it was as bad as I feared. I watched a stupid dance show on my computer while I rode, revved up the pace during the dances, and recovered with the judging. It was kind of fun, and over before I knew it. I liked it better than the Spinning classes I took last winter, probably because of the bike.
It's not as fun as the road, but hopefully it will keep me in shape until the snow melts, which looks like it could be a while away.
An exciting 20 min. on the trainer. Not very long, and not very hard- but IMO any time on the bike is a good time.![]()

YEAH!!!!!! I'm so happy that you got out yesterday! Wowowowow! I'm going to try to get out today!![]()
I rode a quick 16 but it felt great to be outside and off the trainer. It was in the high 50s but there was a brisk wind blowing. My legs did not have a lot in them. I think workout at the gym the night before took its toll - what's a girl to do? All in all it was a fun ride, a new loop, new scenery and fresh air. Who could ask for more?
My mileage is down this year - seemed to have lost the drive after my grueling season last year. The century season begins in about 6 weeks and I have a lot of work ahead of me if I want to launch my season the first weekend in March. Looks like it is time to get serious. Time to focus and time to push myself.

Glad to hear you are out on your bike at last, Bleecker
I did just 17km in an hour - recovery pace only after an interval session on Thursday
