    Old Kentucky Home Tour

Okay Ladies it is that time of year again in the Bluegrass State - time for the Old Kentucky Home Tour (Sept. 6-7). If you have never participated in this event I would encourage you to think about making the journey to Louisville. You have the choice of three beautiful and challenging routes on Saturday. All routes will take you UP Lilly Pike (5.5% grade)- the climb is beautiful and the SAG stop at the top is always a lot of fun.

The lunch stop in Fairfield is the best in the world. The Boy Scout troop plays host to this stop and you certainly will enjoy the southern hospitality that will showered upon you at this stop. At this point you must decide which route you are committed too for the 50 will split off from the 70 and 100 mile routes just the other side of the lunch stop. Regardless of which route you select you will be treated to some awesome countryside

The 70 mile route will certainly challenge you (two 6% climbs toward the end) and the 100 mile route will give you the opportunity to conquer Pottershop Hill (really 3 tough climbs on this road - 14, 9 and 10% grades). Pottershop comes in at the 90 mile mark and becomes even more of a challenge given your tired legs. There is a SAG along the way and again you will be treated to some awesome southern hospitality.

Once in Bardstown enjoy all the festivities set up on the lawn of St. Catherine College (ice cream, free mini massages, yoga, and endless conversation). You can purchase a meal ticket or venture into town for some of the local flavor. Don't have a hotel room no worries - bring your tent and camp for free on the high school's baseball field. Not an outdoors person again no problem bring your air mattress and sleeping bad and claim a spot on the gym floor.

Breakfast Sunday is a real treat - you must catch your pancakes. Come see Chris Cakes in action! The return 55 mile route will again take you through some beautiful Kentucky countryside. The famous Cookie Stop is well quite yummy - an endless supply of cookies. They come in all shapes, sizes, flavor it is simply to die for!

If you decide to come to town please let me know I'd love to introduce you to some of the greatest cycling people in the area. Interested? Check out the website. Have questions? Feel free to contact me and I'll do my best to answer them. Come join the fun!

I agree. This is my favorite ride of all the organized rides! I finally did the century and although I may not have "conquered" Potter Shop Hill, I at least did not WALK it!!! Yay.
