ok, i did it; i got ONTO my bike, first ride of the year! It was 43 degrees and breezy, but i rode 8.5 miles up and down hills in the neighborhood. Then i stopped at the local market and bought local honey, a quart of it; and rode home. it was 41 degrees by then. Meanwhile my DH is doing a century or something. my ride was plenty long for these conditions!

I also got out for my first ride of the year.
Was sunny and high 30's here. I hooked up with a friend from my LBS's C-ride. We met at the shop and did a loop through Rock Creek Park. I rode my bike the 8 miles to the shop, and hoped to hook up with DH at the end, giving me a reasonable 35 flat-ish miles or so for the day. But, DH did a much looonger ride than I anticipated, and I ended up riding home - the long way, since I rode back out, hoping to meet up with DH's group on their way back in. So I got 50 miles for the day. Wow. I certainly didn't plan on doing THAT!

Still haven't been on an outside ride this year. Too much crud on the roads! I'm getting stir crazy already. So, another ride on the trainer, 1:15 hrs/20 miles. DH did some trainer time too.

I had a great ride in sunny weather. The wind was the strongest I've experienced -- ranging from 20-29 WNW and I was riding north on the west side of Manhattan. I certainly felt it! But it was challenging, not scary, and I'm getting more confident about wind which is good.

I also got honked at for no valid reason by a l-o-o-o-n-g limo.

Tomorrow should be fabulous -- 40 degrees and 5-10 mph wind.

Mid 30's and windy when I rode. Only 19 miles.

It's just too damn cold and slush/ice all over the roads here. High of 29F predicted tomorrow, but- wind chill factor will be -4F

And in Texas I wore sleeveless on January 3rd. I have nightmares about the type of weather the rest of you endure this time of year!

35.08 windy miles (average 18, gusting to 25+) but a gorgeous, balmy 80 degrees outside. We carefully planned a route that maximized the tailwind home. DH still left me in the dust even with bruises all over and a nasty cut on the left nakle we were concerned with re-opening but didn't bandage because it needed air. Did I mention he whined about his chest being bruised and head hurting from the wreck he had yesterday?

WINDY, mid 40's, rode 42 miles. Half with a head wind or fierce cross winds, but the way back was FUN!!! We flew down the road. It was great!

Ugh... Trainer again this am! Still snowing here and quite a bit on the roads. No shoulder to ride on anywhere, and stupid drivers. Scary stuff!!!!

I logged about 30km... 10 on my TT bike, but my back I had hurt didn't ease, so I got my Femetape, but after 200m it had a flat tire... so then I got my road race bike and gave him a steady 20km on the road...

43 miles, 34 degrees w/a starting windchill of 30 (went lower as ride progressed). Unfortunately, humidity was high so it was that damp, bonechilling type of cold.

Got more miles than degrees on the thermometer yesterday! Started out at 22 degrees with a windchill of 14, ended 32 miles later with a temperature of 28 and a windchill of 20. I still had a good ride despite the cold and will be doing so again today.

    Freezing Rain & Snow=Trainer Rides, but I don't mind

I bought a KK Road Machine right after Christmas and it has served me well the last few days!!

I'm re-watching season 1 of Grey's Anatomy while I ride, it helps pass the time very much.

Another date with with the trainer. This time, Chris Carmichael Interval Training for Mtn. Bike Racers (not that I'm a mtn. bike racer, but it's a good interval workout nonetheless). Although the sun was out today, it was pretty windy (good for you for braving that wind, deedolce!). Butt had residual soreness from sitting on the trainer yesterday, but I'm hoping it toughens up soon.

Looks like my riding group will be getting back together sometime mid-to-late January, so I'm hoping to get back to outdoor riding at that time.

This morning it is COLD -- mid 20's. The newscasters were saying that it's colder here in California than it is in Chicago this morning! Should warm to around 50 for the high though, which is probably hot to most of you this time of year.
