    Smile Christmas Light Ride

    To disable ads, please log-in.

DH and I got our bikes decorated just in time for a wonderful Christmas Eve ride through several neighborhoods - we enjoyed the night ride and looking at Christmas lights and wishing numerous neighbors Merry Christmas! We wrapped the bike frames with tinsel and battery operated LED Christmas lights. Sorry the pics are dark, but we were working without a tripod and using our small digital, but you can see the lights anyway. We had a couple of our favorite plush Christmas pals along for the ride on our racks - Krismoose and Thumper! We also had jingle bells and antlers on the handlebars. The temp was excellent - 70s - good ole Florida weather! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!!

How festive! That looks like a great tradition! I wonder if I could convince dbf to try that with me?

How great! Your bikes look awesome!!!!
We did the same type of ride last Saturday night. I wish I'd have taken pictures. We went with another couple, and I was the only one decked out. I had lights and a stuffed dog and was lit up like a Christmas tree. I even had a Santa hat on my helmet. I just wish we'd had the nice temps like you did. We settled for low 40's, but it wasn't too bad.

Thanks everyone! DH and I have decided to make that one of our annual Christmas traditions, weather permitting. We went out for another ride tonight and got lots of waves and thumbs up from traffic as well as the neighbors. We were trying to get to the park before dark, but just missed the gate closing, so we rode through tons of neighborhood streets near the park. Dummy me - I forgot to clear my trip meter, so not sure how many miles. But that was so fun!!! Next year, maybe we can get a few neighbors and friends to ride along with us and have hot chocolate or something afterwards. We are also planning to hook up our bike trailer next year and decorate it like a sleigh with my huge teddy bear in it. DH’s knees are still recovering, so we left the trailer home this time. I am just glad that he is able to ride again. And Tri Girl, I would have ridden in 40 degrees too - sounds like you had a nice ride as well!

That is so cool! I don't decorate for Christmas at all, but I did toy with the idea of putting something on my bike. Maybe next year, thanks to your inspiration!
