Isn't it always hot over there in your neck of the woods this time of year?
We've had a really mild July, but it's about to end.
I have to go to Tulsa today to pick up my Mac at the Apple Store. It's HOT over there, always.

This past week the humidity has been hovering around 80% or so with temps reaching into 100's. Is it me or did the heat wave hit a little earlier than normal? Usually there are 2 weeks of 100+ degree temps in August. I took my bike out for a brief spin and I felt like I was trying to swim on the bike. The air is so heavy and so stagnant. Needless to say I haven't been on the bike much at all. Guess we're getting a jump start on the heat wave.![]()

95F with 95% humidity sounds like a typical summer around here. I ride anyway. Have discovered the joy of having a bottle of frozen water in my back pocket. Bottle of iced water and bottle of electrolyte water in the front cages, third bottle of mainly solid ice in my pocket - gets me through a 20-30 mile ride.

Ironically, we had two days in the 70's this week. It was AWESOME!

Yeah, we've been having weather in the 70s last couple of days, and we think it's awesome too ...
After 50s and rain.
Sorry. I shouldn't gloat.
But if you guys wanna use the cliché that it's hotter than H... where you are, I can tell you from H€ll, Norway, that you are probably being quite simply and boringly truthful, no exaggeration at all. Our forecast for the next few days is around 25C. That's 77F, and for us that's above our comfort level, although we're happy to have a few days of it![]()
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.
I love riding in the heat. I did 40 miles midday today![]()
Had to get the ride in before the heat advisory expired tonight at 8:00...
Andrea, you're a masochist.
Last year I rode the most miles during the 2 week heatwave. Can't get excited about it thus far.![]()
Out West here, its hot but we do not have the humdity like you guys. So my riding has been limited to the trainer in the AM. I do this in the severe winter and when the weather is too hot to be outside, like anything over 100 degrees.
After riding the trainer all winter last year, when I did go for a ride, I was totally amazed at my riding. I was stronger and could push harder where I could not before. I hope I see the same thing again here too.

I've not ridden all week. It's not as hot as Las Vegas though. Temps were 113 F and dropped to 100 F by 9 p.m.![]()
I did 40 miles yesterday. The last 20 miles were brutal, with me coming close to overheating a few times on longer hills.
This weather is why I left Florida. Ugh
Grey, your avatar cracks me up. I read your post with Oscar's voice in my head, lol.![]()
It was 97 degrees today with 100% humidity here along the Texas Gulf Coast.
This is a brutal time of year for outdoor bike riding.
I like the idea of putting a frozen bike bottle of water in the back pocket to help keep cool. Excellent idea! :0)
I just keep telling myself..."I am the Tortise; slow and steady finishes the race." I am the Tortise, coo coo ca choo.![]()
I get to race in Nashville on Saturday- 45 miles starting at 11:35. My arch nemesis will be there...
