    Talking Ok, Cindy gals....

I was holding back my excitement, not wanting to jinx myself and say anything too early, but I can't hold back any longer.....just in time for the Cinderella, tomorrow I'll have my....

NEW BIKE!! NEW BIKE!! NEW BIKE!!

I saw it today at the bike shop, and it's soooo purty! My lbs told me that it should be in by Wednesday, so when they called me at work to bring the pedals down to them on my next break, I knew they had it. Here's a look-see: http://fujibikes.com/2005/bikes.asp?id=4 I finally have a carbon after about 17 years of lusting after them! That's about when the first carbons came on the market, and I've been drooling ever since. Finally, being all grown up & stuff (well, supposedly), with a rather large tax refund this year, I spoiled myself - BIG TIME!!

I'm just so jazzed - I wanted to share it with you all first. I'm bringing it home tomorrow, and I swear it'll be just like bringing home a new baby. I thought about throwing a baby shower, but that might be a little over the top, ya think?? hehe

    See ya Friday!

Hey - congratulations! Getting a new bike - especially one that you've been lusting over - is a great thing!

    Happy riding...

Wow! Beautiful bike, there, Missy! Wish I was going to be there to see it. Does it have a double or triple chainring?

Hey Spazz! Welcome to the West Coast!! How was the flight and all? Hope you're having fun and have a great ride on Saturday! I wish I could be there. I was thinking about poaching, but since I won't be able to make the whole thing (most likely), I'd better not because I wouldn't be able to SAG!!!!!

Uh, nooo, I got him the December beforehand.

My original plan was to get Pokey right before the Cindy ride, since, by my silly logic, I thought I would have "deserved" him by then but the wise & wonderful ladies of this board talked me into getting him right away instead.

Oops - I quoted you coz I wanted to say heck yeah you can have a shower!!! Maybe even send out "welcome home" notices??!!

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a Beaut!!!!.......I was just looking at carbons today. I'm this close *insert finger and thumb almost touching* to getting a road bike. A friend of mine has a steel Peugot he doesn't ride anymore that he's bringing by today or tomorrow to see if it fits me. If yes - I can have it for about $50. Crossing fingers!!!!!!

And to all the Cindy Gals: Ride well, ride safe, heck just ride!

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

    Rock-a-bye, Baby....

Oh, you guys...wow....she looks lovely any way I look at 'er...I'm in love. I feel like I don't deserve such a nice ride, but darnit! I work hard! YEA!

Thanks for all the congrats! Nancy, you made me laugh with the extra table thing. Too funny! Slinkedog - it has a double chainring, and 10 cogs in the rear. Way more than my Cannondale, with 6 cogs. More gears choices will be interesting, to say the least. Also, I have to get accustomed to the shifter levers being at my brake hoods, and not the down tube. The guys at the shop had to show me how to work them. Then, if that's not all, I got new pedals, Speedplay Zeros, which I have to get accustomed to, as well, since I have Aerolite's on the Cannondale (I'll be changing those to Speedplay's as well, so I won't need to keep changing shoes/cleats). I took it up and down my street when I got home from work tonight, played with the gears, made sure I could get in and out of the pedals. I'm meeting a couple guys at 8am for a ride in the morning, to work out some fine-tune adjustments before Saturday. I can already tell my seat needs to be raised. The lbs guy underestimated my long legs, I guess (I'm 5'9").

By the way, I do have a name for my new baby girl... "Flicka". With my other love being horses and the bike being black, I thought I'd combine the two with a horse name. Black Beauty and The Black (from the Black Stallion books - I had the whole set when I was a kid) were maybe a little much, and besides, I felt that my bike had to be a girl. Us girls understand each other, ya know? In the book My Friend Flicka, Flicka was a black filly with white markings and was hand-picked by a little boy who had long been wanting a horse of his own (correlation: lusting after black carbon, etc.). She was a rebellious little filly, but became gentle under the boy's touch and care, and she was FAST! Ok, so I might be going a little overboard with the correlations, but the point of the gibberish is, Flicka fits! hehe

    Also, welcome Spazz, to California!
