...is in a week and a day. It's my first NRC race, and, in all honesty, I'm kinda nervous about this one
I'll be racing against several women that I've looked up to since I started. It's a weird thought that I could (literally) rub (or bump) elbows with Laura Van Gilder or Tina Pic.
Time to see if my training will pay off!
No self doubt, please! You're gonna rock!
Good luck! I will have several teammates going down to that race as well. Remember my post from Turtle Pond, and make sure you practice positive self-talk - you'll do great!

All the best... looking forward to reading a race report
Rock away Andrea!
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
"I will try again tomorrow".
So... I only lasted 20 minutes in the Sunny King Crit before I got pulled, but it was definitely a trial by fire learning experience.
Sunday was better, though. I gave it another shot at the Roswell Criterium and stayed in for 41st place (it's a start)! I was on the wheels of Tina Pic and others several times during the course of the race. It was quite a rush! Also the hardest race I've ever done. Somehow I managed to pull a muscle in my chest- I can feel it when I breathe really hard.
I am happy to finish and look forward to getting more competitive as I get more practice/fitness. I'm going to ride in a couple of cat 3 men crits before my next NRC race at the end of the month (Tulsa Tough) since the speeds, race durations, and pack sizes are similar (~25 mph average, hour long, 50 or so riders)
I wrote a race report & put some photos up in my blog if anyone's interested![]()
