That's what a bike shop person said to me yesterday! LOL

I had my bike out for a ride, and didn't think I'd be going into a shop. Normally, if I take my bike in for something, I strip it down a bit. But, not yesterday.

I had to laugh. I stood back and looked at all the cr@p all over my bike, and yes, it looks a little funny. BUT, the most accessories? I don't think so!

It had:

Aero bars
Cyclometer
HR monitor
Headlight mount (no light on it yesterday)
Frame pump
3 Bottle cages
Seat bag
Clip on seat-post rear fender

It is a rather funny looking beast, with its aero bars on the front and granny gears in the back. But I think I've seen some commuters with way more stuff than that! And, since I don't have Veronica's Thom in my life, it doesn't have a sound system!

Well, I wouldn't consider the frame pump or the water bottle cages to be accessories, more like essentials.

Actually, apart from the aerobars, you're describing a pretty typical randonneuring setup. Someone who's not worried about flats, riding in the dark, riding in the rain, riding in remote places where water isn't easy to get.

I'm really glad I had my light (& light mount) last night, and I went thru lots of water and could have probably used that 3rd bottle mount if we were in remote areas. And the seatbag came in handy for dumping articles of clothing I didn't need (and needed again as evening approached.) Obviously I had a frame pump.


I laugh more at the folks who carry nothing but their teenie-tiny itsy bitsy little underseat bag ... when they're stranded because they didn't have that extra tube or ran out of CO2 cartriges.

Some of the items do seem a bit incongruous but you have to figure each person has their reasons for what they carry.
They're probably just used to seeing mountain men and racer boys.

Oh, humph! You are a piker.

I have a computer, underseat racks, a fairing, lights, my pump, two water bottle holders, a little seat bag with tools & stuff, a cable and most often a backpack with camera and other necesities (picnic!) slung over my seat back. And that's on the Going Light days.

I fear it's just far too easy to hang stuff off a recumbent, at least until I decide to take a tour and then I actully put things on the bike.

This was pre-600k, or "How to Make a Sub 20 Pound Bike into a 35 Pound Bike". The bar and saddle bags held probably 15 lbs of food, batteries, tubes, CO2s. I also used a camelback to hold rain/cold clothes... all of which I used.

2 front lights. 2 rear lights. Cycle computer. Bar bag. Saddle bag. Bottles were added later.
