Had my first real ride of the season today, 49 miles in the glorious winter sunshine/snow!
Favourite part of the ride was pulling into a tea-stop halfway round, the place was heaving with blokey cyclists, out on Sunday club runs. One poor guy had cycled 15 miles without a saddle, as he didn't have a spanner that fit, to fix it . None of the guys in the cafe had one to fit either, so I pulled one out of my pack and saved the day! He thought it was fantastic that with so many blokes, a girlie had come to his rescue - especially as one of his companions thought a woman's place was at home in the kitchen!
Let's hear it for girl power and a well stocked tool kit!
What struck me though, was that all his mates thought it was really funny he'd had to honk all the way, and had no sympathy at all - I'm sure that a women's club would have not only been sympathetic, but would have also had the gumption to fix it in the first place!!
It's so nice being a girl sometimes!
