Can you help vote for me?

Hi all! I'm a loyal team estrogen customer, but never realized there were forums!! I'm all joined up now and hoping you might be able to help me out. It's super easy, I promise.

I'm a finalist in a competition to win a spot on a triathlon team. Something that is beyond my wildest dreams as a beginner.

In order to vote, all you have to do is send an email to: vote@evotri.com with 'Sarah McKibben - Final Round' in the subject line. That's it! Final voting will continue until THIS FRIDAY FEB 29th at 11:59 PM PST. You can only vote once, so please refrain from emailing from multiple email addresses. Thanks!!

Here's a little more about my story -

Last year was my first year in the sport of triathlon (after dropping about 80 lbs and becoming a runner). It's something that I really enjoy and a good reminder of how far I've come from not being able to run at all to training for an olympic distance triathlon and a half ironman. I know that there are lots of stories like this, but I'm really glad to share mine.

When I first heard about the contest, it seemed like something so beyond me. Until I sat down and faced my fears. It wasn't a fear of throwing my 'swim cap' in the ring, so to speak. It was because I knew I'd be opening myself up to being judged. This sport is full of the most athletic people around. If you come from my background - it can be INCREDIBLY intimidating. And that's why I decided to make my video. Because there must be people out there like me. Who are afraid to try it out because they don't think they can. Or because they think they aren't fit enough or fast enough. I want to help get as many people into this sport as possible, and also give back to the tri community any way I can. So I submitted the video below and now I'm a finalist. If I make it, I'll be on a team with several other competitors, and it's something that I never thought would be possible.
You can check out my blog for more info - pbj.typepad.com or you can watch my video here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JEhIzR15P0

Feel free to pass my story on to those that you know. I'm really hoping it can inspire others to begin running, cycling or just being active.

Okay, your story convinced me! I'm halfway to where you are weight loss wise and I really needed to hear from someone like you!

Welcome to the forum. Good luck on the team.

Thanks Karen! I realize that it's poor form for that to be my first post, but I'll be around. I need a place to talk about active stuff and my guess is that this is mostly women! I'm a forum addict, and it's a small community, so I'm sure you'll see me around!

I came. I saw. I voted. GO, BRAVE SARAH!

We have a lot in common, though for me it's all cycling, no tri-ing. In the winter I do a super-hard spin training with racers and triathletes. I'm built like you - after the same amount of weight loss - and it took such courage to walk into the room filled with lean bodies and claim my spot in it - but I found out that I was judged only by the quality of my effort. I hope you find it the same in the world of triathlons. I will pass your info on to the training group so you can get their support.

I'm amazed at how true this has been. I thought for sure that these people would leave me in the dust, and then I realized that it's not such a *secret* afterall. If you work hard and train, you get the respect.

I voted for you - Good luck.

When do you find out if you make it - right away I hope. The suspense must be killing you.
