    Smile Assos, cashmere and.... cowpies

I finally got back on my mountain bike today. I haven't ridden it since before I hurt my knee on the Knoxville Double in September, as it's hard to do any mountain biking around here without some steep climbing.

We rode the Ridge Trail in Black Diamond Regional Preserve and the cows wander around the park in the winter. They really chew up the trails and leave some things to be avoided. But it was great weather. I was able to wear knickers instead of tights and my cashmere short sleeve jersey instead of two or three layers of wool.

This trail climbs almost 1000 feet in 2.8 miles. It's a great workout. We'll do it as an out and back most days. To do it as a loop you either have to go up or down the Wall. It climbs the same height in significantly less distance. I prefer to go up the Wall myself. That will be a ride report for another day.

This is the last sweeper on the descent.

I've missed mountain biking and I want to get this back into my regular weekly routine.

There are a few other pictures from today on our website.

    Fabulous pictures, Veronica!

I love riding on dirt roads - looks like those in the photos would be fun, though tough! I gave up MTBing because of singletrack. Just can't handle it at my....um.....advanced age!

You have the prettiest places to ride, V! Your road rides are gorgeous, your mtb rides are stunning. I am so envious! I would LOVE to ride my MTB there (not a huge fan of singletrack, don't mind climbing...)

    Thanks for the photos!

It should be illegal to ride somewhere that green in February. But what intrigued me the most about your post ... a CASHMERE jersey? This I've gotta explore.

It's green because January was so rainy!

The jersey is a sweater that moths got at. I shipped it off to Irulan, with two others and a jersey that I like the fit of and she turned the three sweaters into cycling jerseys.
