What a day.
So I wanted to print out a directory content, that means all file titles I have in a folder. At work.
There are loads of pages around on various help boards and computer resources, including Microsoft, that tell you how to recreate an old DOS command called printdir or something in Windows.
You copy some tiny script to make a .bat file and so on and so on. The buggy thing that is XP changes something in your settings such that from then on, when you click on your folders, instead of opening them the search assistant comes on.
I did this on my company issue computer today.
After all it's not a software install so I can do it.
Then I had to try and fix my ****up. Which means I had to modify the registry files which I have NEVER done.
So I tiptoed in there and held my breath as I hit enter, and was almost having cold sweats when I restarted the machine.
Well I did it.
Tonight I find how to really do it, and simple:
browse to the folder in your browser.... Sheesh.

better you than me. glad you fixed it.
I just can't believe all those complicated instructions come up first if you search.
What's even worse, first you find dozens of free utilities to install and do it. When typing a few simple things could do it.
