    Ruby Expert saddle question

    To disable ads, please log-in.

My friend is looking to buy her first real road bike, a Ruby Expert. She was asking me questions about choosing bike saddles. Our friend has an Expert and has never considered changing the saddle. I'm wondering from those of you who have an Expert, what is the saddle like? Do you like it? Do you not like it and why? Just curious.

I LOVE my Ruby Expert saddle. However, I did have to swap it out for a narrower size (comes in 3 widths - my bike came with the mid-size width and it just about killed me, but with the narrowest width I feel as though I'm riding on air). I was SURE I needed a wider saddle and not a narrower saddle - good thing I listened to the lbs guys. Make sure your friend has her sit bones measured on the "assometer" at her lbs. This will ensure she gets the right width saddle.

Everyone is different, so what works for one person may or may not work for your friend. Unfortunately, saddle choice is largely a matter of trial and error. I love my Terry Butterfly, but it doesn't work for some folks.
